Displaying of images

Dont know if this would be a mod or not, feel free to move to where ever need be...

1.
Is it possible to have the newest images added to the front of the category instead of to the last page when they are added making the oldest images the last ones and the newest the first?  Does that make sense? 

2.
Also is there a way to add more stuff to the side bar?  Like a shout box...or other links?  If they are here already could you point me in that direction?

1. A: yes - ACP -> Images attitudes or/and take this [MOD] Let Visitors To Chose How To Sort Images

2. A: yes - e.g. ... edit your /templates/<your_template>/user_loginform.html  for links for not logged in users and /templates/<your_template>/user_logininfo.html  for links for logged in users ...
