Im a newbie.. Help! :'(!
« on: May 25, 2003, 02:36:10 AM »
I just changed servers because my old one was hacked, and now i installed 4images agian, on my last one my autothumbnailer was working real fine. Im usin that GD one and i also used it on my last server i was on. I cant try imagematic or the net one because i dont know its path of it. Right now when i use the GD auto thumbnailer, it makes the thumbnail weirder but it uses the color that is used alot in the picture. What i mean it this, u have a picture which has couple red colors lil green colors and alot of blue colors. Now the thumbnail becomes all blue and what ever was green and red are covered blue but if it was dark its blue dark. If u understand what i mean, can u help!

If your host is using GD v.2, check the FAQ named "Bad thumbnail quality with GD2".
I had the same problem and changing the field as described in the FAQ made a huge difference, and my thumbs are now looking great...  However, I think this will only work if your host is using the more recent version of GD library, GD2.  Check their PHP Info, and scroll down to the GD section. You should see the version they use.
Good luck.

I would recommend sending in a support ticket to your webhost and asking if they have ImageMagik installed, and if so, where it is.

On a wing and a prayer, on my host ImageMagik is installed in /usr/bin, you might try that, but I would find out from your host where it is installed.
