still no joy with db connection

I have been to my config.php page and all the passwords settings are in place, I don't seem to connect to database, i have consulted the hosts of the site and they have don't have clue, I've changed all the passwords so the they the same as the those in the php page but i still can't get the gallery to connect, i have also removed the passwords from the php page, still no joy please help

I would try root as the username, which is what gets installed while performing standard automated install of MySQL.
