Database grows, gallery slows down.. what should I do?

Hello 

I'm running a gallery on a low-specs server with no future of soon upgrades. At the very begginig it was running just fine, but after number of photos exceeded 5000 and database size 10MB the performance deteriorated to the inacceptable level.. especially when more than 10 users are browsing one need to wait for several minutes fot the main site to load. Looking at the database structure I found that
   
    4images_wordlist   22.132     MyISAM        1,1 MB
    4images_wordmatch       116.474     MyISAM        3,1 MB

comprise the majority of the database size.. Is this a source of my performance problems? Is there a chance to improve the performance of my 4img based gallery with some mods??

Yep get a new host. 

We can host your site... our servers are very fast. In fact we have over 6000+ images on one of our sites with no performance issues.
