replace all files on the server with new files from the package. - done.
make sure you make backup of all .php and .html files
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
Please do not PM me asking for help unless you've been specifically asked to do so. Such PMs will be deleted without answer. (forum rule #6)

But then, how do I make it that all my catagories and things, go back into the gallery?
And how do I make sure I have saved all my database?
:s

database is something different, it has nothing to do with 4images files.
your images also not .php or .html files, right? so if you dont touch them, then why would you loose them?
Besides that, I've never said anything about deleting anything, so you wont loose anything unless you delete something.

Trust me, if there would be a remote posibility loosing data during the upgrade, I would have mentioned that.

If you are so not sure, then why not create a test gallery with previous 4images version and then upgrade it, see if you loose anything.

Okay, I think I get it now.
I just replace all the old files, with the new ones, but not the folders?
Or would I go into the folders and replace the files there too?

Okay, I done that.
When I was doing the "Update_blah_to_blah.php" it was giving me errors that the server was busy and to try later, but it's all working alright anyway. :)
Thanks for the help. <3

backup your config.php

upload the new 4images files to the appropriate(unzip on your pc first)

restore your old config.php

That's all I did for 1.7.3 and everything worked great!
