Can't upload images!

I installed 4images, and I'm assuming I installed it all good. Everything is fine. Except when I go to make a category or upload an image. I tried to upload an image and here's what I got:

  Error uploading image file: model01.jpg
model01.jpg: Copy error. Please check the directory permissions.

No database entry!
 
I don't know why. And when I create a category, it creates the categories ... but I get this message:

Any ideas why? Where I'd go wrong? Do I have to re-install everythigng? ... hope not, lol. I hope someone can help me out ... thanks

I followed everything in step 5. However I still get this:

This issue has now been resolved.

I had the same error. safe mode is off. and i made  all folders in /public_html/data by 777 and then i got another error about folder of thumbnails. then i made all folders in thumbnails permission  777 too. and now i can upload  images normally. but i want to ask is it ok that i made permisson from 755 to 777? I mean if i have some problem with that in future?
