installation with Xampp, how to??
« on: July 22, 2010, 12:29:35 PM »
Hi

4images installation for dummies?

Do anyone have an how to installation for 4images with xampp??

Progress so far:

I have worked with Joomla vs. xampp. So I tried to do the same with the 4images installation (with xampp as a server).

I generally tried to use the installation videos from: http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=17091.0
I also used the general structure for the installation.

can anybody help me please??

thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to 4images forum.

What is the problem exactly?
The installation instructions you can find in docs/installation.english.txt inside 4images package.
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:

Yes, I have found the docs/installation.

My problem is how to install the 4images program.

I just want to test the program and play with it. So I don't want to upload it to a "real server", but just install it on or in xampp.(localhost)  Am I totally wrong?

Progress so far:

I tried to install for images; http://localhost/4images/install.php

filled out the boxes and pressed install

message; An unexpected error occured. Please try again later.

What do I miss?

you must first create a database via phpmyadmin, then provide login information for that database at the 4images installation screen. These are the basics one should already know in order to install 4images or any other web based software. There are plenty of tutorials on google...

If you don't want spend time on learning these basics or otherwise, you can try [PROGRAM] 4images Mobile Server, it already preinstalled and ready to use software. Just make sure xampp is not running on your computer when you launch that 4images mobile server
