I'm using 1.7.1 (fairly extensively modified) to run my website
www.cfgphoto.com on PowWeb. I've been using 4images for this site for around 3 years and haven't really had any problems. I also haven't made any changes in the last few days, but today I received this message from PowWeb support.
"The script: /home/users/web/b1133/pow.geoffbryant/htdocs/details.php has turned berserk. There are tons of them running perhaps calling itself. We have disabled your CGI, unless you correct your script we cannot enable it."
Now, as I haven't made any changes do any of you have any clues about what might cause this problem? Could it have been malicious interference? I long ago removed uploads, registration, postcards, etc to minimise the vulnerabilities, but maybe that wasn't enough.
I have replaced the files that could possibly be the cause of the problem with clean ones from my backup and have asked PowWeb to reinstate CGI to see if all is now well. So far nothing has happened but I'm hoping this was just some kind of inexplicable blip and it will all be fine in a few hours - maybe.
