must add for any folder index.html

you don't have too...

use in .htaccess

IndexIgnore *will return blank folder list

or

Options -Indexeswill return 403 error

404 would be "NOT found"...

you can look on apache site how you can figure it out with 404..

i don't see any sense to return an 404 error
