4images automodder ! (boardmod 4images) **PUBLIC BETA TEST**
« on: November 04, 2002, 11:41:34 AM »
Hi folks,

I can't speak German and the last time I tried I failed miserably lol

Anyways, after talking to the author of Boardmod for yabb/yabbse message boards I've been given permission to release a version for 4images.

This program will allow you to automatically apply mod files to 4images within the software and once the final release comes out should make the life of noncode litterate modders easier.

noted features:

Log                    - tells the modder what scripts are installed/uninstalled
auto install          - mods the scripts fast and creates a log
auto uninstall      - uninstalls the script automatically
manual mod       - displays what lines should be replaced to mod manually
tag commands    - add before, add after, replace etc tags
and others I cant remember  :P

replace tags are usually thought of as bad practice because it means another mod wont be able to find the same syntax, this isnt a big problem but one that I thought I should note

The one problem with boardmod currently is that mod files have to be very strict, meaning that you will need to decide where new features should be, and of course when you are making the mod files that all the spaces etc are correct (this can be a pita when modding)

The final version of boardmod 4images will be supported by both www.4homepages.de and www.boardmod.org

I have included test mod files that have been edited to suit boardmod but you will need to edit them yourself for where they should be displayed on the gallery

Remember that this version has no formal support and that it should only be used by experienced modders

the link for the beta can currently be found here: www.3dhomeworld.com/4imagesmodder.zip

The current build is only supported for Windows 9x  a linux version is also in the works !!

Anyways, please tell us what you think...

to install, download the zip included in this post and extract it to your root directory (i.e C:\4imagesmodder\) there is a small fault in boardmod that doesnt like being embedded too far into the file system.

1. drop a FRESH version of 4images into the folder in 4imagesmodder folder.
2. run boardmod and then select the index.php file from within the program
3. apply a test mod and make sure everything mods/unmods ok

Remember that this is just a test, if you are a modder then feel free to convert your scripts to support boardmod.

once again,
please tell us how you get on :)

IMO it wasnt worth it...(no offence Nossie)
It would work on fresh 4images, but ones something changed, the mod wouldnt work anymore. also, none of the current mods would support this one.
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
Please do not PM me asking for help unless you've been specifically asked to do so. Such PMs will be deleted without answer. (forum rule #6)
