I don't think many people are going to understand your question. At least I don't. What exactly do you mean? Thumbnails are displayed all over the place in 4images, especially the categories.
Need more info.

Have u tryed use GD insted?
anyway, when u figure it out, u'll need click on 'auto thumbnail' in admin control panel. otherwise u wont see any thumbnails.

i did "auto thumbnail" but it didn't help
about netpbm - i'm not sure about it, where should i put GD? does it need installation?
