How can I customize default theme?

How can I customize the default theme like this site here : http://nickcannonweb.com/imgarchive/index.php ? It's simple but real cool ... I like that and want to make something similar. However, I don't want to mess anything up, lol. Thanks  :)

you must edit the Templates in /templates/default/...

for heavy changes you must change nearly each Template.

To just do a few color changes to the color of the default template.. you will need to modify your style.css in /templates/default/

Other then just simple color tweeks, as Acidgod has said,you would have to modify most every html file in your default template folder.
