Discussion & Troubleshooting / Trying to upload Powerpoint file
« on: June 27, 2002, 01:30:48 PM »
I tried to make the gallery accept an upload of a Powerpoint file, but no success.

I have added ppt as a valid file extension in the settings, but when I try to upload a powerpoint file I get the message

"Error uploading image file:
xxx.ppt: Invalid file type (ppt, application/vnd)"

How do I get around this?

Feedback & Suggestions / Security issues

A while back I wrote this. I never got an answer. Does the developer want to comment on this?

Feedback & Suggestions / 4images security problem?
« on: May 05, 2002, 07:53:00 PM »
Everywhere I read about php and security I am told that setting a dir and the files in it to chmod 777 is a *major* security risk as an attacker can then put any file in the dir and execute it.

4images creates files and dirs that are chmod 777 and it seems very unsafe. Just because the script checks for file types so that no one can upload e.g. a PHP script *via 4images*, what prevents a hacker from finding *another way* in and putting a file inside the media dirs and execute it?

I think it is revealing that through this whole web site, security issues are not discussed at all.
I would like to hear the developer's thoughts (in detail) regarding the security of putting this script on a server.

Feedback & Suggestions / hi again
« on: April 15, 2002, 10:01:19 AM »
As I am not a developer I will not go into the details of this discussion - my initial idea was simply that perhaps one of the postnuke crowd had the time and skills to maintain a Postnuke version of 4images. If so this person could get in touch with the developer of 4images and they could make an agreement on how to do things. That's all.

Feedback & Suggestions / 4images for postnuke
« on: April 14, 2002, 06:57:03 PM »
I would very much like to use 4images in connection with my Postnuke (an open source CMS system) web portal. So I asked the developer group of Postnuke if anyone would like to make 4images into a postnuke module. Here's the message I posted in their forum:

http://mods.postnuke.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=PN_Cyboards&file=flat_read&board=5&id=16472&thread=16472

I just thought I'd let you know about this.

Best regards

PS: Sorry for not writing in German. I read German but I don't write it very well.

Feedback & Suggestions / Super-user
« on: March 26, 2002, 11:18:28 AM »
I think there should be both ordinary users and super-users. Super-users can upload to the gallery, users can't. I would be best to have that choice - IMHO

and thank you for an already *great* and well-working product!

Sorry for the english - I understand german but don't speak or write it very well

If you don't have the time to port your system, then perhaps you could obtain help from other developers. There's a very active developer community at www.postnuke.com Postnuke is a great follow-up to phpnuke - and much better IMHO.

Sorry for the english - I understand German but don't speak it very well.
