A while ago, I set up a 4images gallery on my domain. It worked perfectly. Then my host moved the server that the domain was on. And they wouldn't disable the exec() function. So, I got a new domain, at a new host.

Now, I have my arena finally installed and it works pretty good... and after doing everything to bypass safe mode I can finally make categories and upload images.

But..

The first problem is that even though I have netpbm and image magik installed at my domain, images still upload without a thumbnail. I've tried both thumbnailers. So, that brings me to my second problem. I go to auto-thumbnailer, and I get as far as the screen where it displays all of the missing thumbnails. Then I click on "create thumbnails" and I get a simple error of: "Error creating thumbnail!"

I looked around everywhere at these forums for a solution. So far everything suggested for similar problems hasn't worked. I tried doing the think with commenting out some things in image_utils.php that V@no suggested for image magik but that created more errors. I checked all file permissions and paths, everything is correct. I tried re-uploading netpbm but that didn't change anything.

I really need some help, I'm going to go absolutely nuts if my thumbnails don't work. And I refuse to resort to GD

Same for me too. All works, except when I try to upload a picture. All chmod's are set to 777 ... and even with this mod, I get the message:

Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 636 is not allowed to access /home/www/web1/html/galerie/data/media/1 owned by uid 30 in /home/www/web1/html/galerie/includes/upload.php on line 114

Not funny ...

I get the same exact thing ... and I'm getting really frustrated over here...

sigh. my hosts will not enable it either. Is there anything that can be done to have it work without it?

Hiya, I am interested in adding an "awards" type feature to my gallery.

I would like to use this:

Where the image is displayed in two categories (after "marking" it)... How do I get the category to display only the "marked" images? (Can you please explain how to do this straight forwardly?)

Also, I would like to be able, to award the "title" (example: 1st, 2nd, 3rd)... possibly as a little menu that would show up on each image editing page (the "edit" image page thing for administrators), where I can select (by radio buttons or drop down menu) in what award to give to it. After doing that, the title I award it would show up on the image details page for everyone to see, then depending on what I title, it would be put into the proper category.

To help explain, here is an example of what I'm talking about:

First, let's say I had 4 pictures: "Dog", "Cat", "Fish", and "Bird"
I decide I want to award "Cat" 1st. So, I click on the thumbnail to go to the image detail page (as normal), click on "[Edit]", and select the award 1st. Now, "Cat" will display the word "1st" on the image detail page, and the "Cat" picture will be also displayed in the "Winners" category. Now I want to give "Dog" 2nd. So I do the same thing, but instead of being put into the "Winners" category, I want it put into the "2nd Winners" category.

Can anyone help me do this? Thank you so much
