Title: User / Administrator levels
Post by: phazard on March 09, 2003, 05:56:47 AM
I've been looking through the forums and havent come across anything that mentions having different levels of administrators or users... I'd like to have an administrator that can edit text (captions and comments) on images but not delete images...   I see there are different numbers associated with admins, registered (active) and non-active registered users... is there a way to add something between registered (active) and admin that would have a few more rights than a registered user but not a full-blown admin?

no, there is no "exactly" a user level that have more preveleges then "regular" user, BUT there is more preveleges for user who own a picture.
If a user uploaded a picture, he is the owner of the picture. (unless admin changed it).
Admin can set in 4images settings, that pictures owners can edit or/and delete their own pictures/comments.
so, that's about all extra preveleges users could get in this version of 4images.
and "moderator" user level has been requested, and might be considering for the future versions.

Thank you... having a moderator would help tremendously.... so heres a vote for that in the next release

gallery has a nice setup for doing this... you can select just what the person can do: add pictures, delete pictures, add text, delete text, etc

Is there a way that you can allow users to upload images and have them automatically posted instead of waiting for an administrator to approve of them ?

Hello;
edit the categories where you want your members to direct upload.
Then set the value "Direct Upload" to "Registered Members", instead of "Administrators"

Don't forget to set the "Auto-Thumbnailer" ON, in the general settings.
