Title: Error uploading image file
Post by: karlito on May 17, 2006, 06:26:12 AM
When I installed localy(on desctop) the album it worked perfectly. But when I installed it on the server, after the uploading images this error comes: Error uploading image file.
Though it's possible to upload an image from url.

I cmoded all the files on the server to 777.
Safe mode is switched off.

What else can be the reason of the error?

You can try to apload to the server  www.parijata.net/photo/
I gave all the permissions for all

and this is an image from "phpinfo"

I have the exact same problem.

Iīm getting (in member.php):
Quote
Error uploading image file:
Thatīs it!

When i tried to upload true the admin panel, i got:
Quote
Error uploading image file: test.jpg
test.jpg: Copy error. Please check the directory permissions.

No database entry!
I know that the permissions are correct, (regarding to the docs).

Any solution for this?
(Iīm using the GD library.)

EDIT:
I just saw that no folders were created in /data/media/* or /data/thumbnails/ *, though I have created several categories in the admin panel.
I created the missing folders with itīs category id and now it works.

Maybe someone could fix this so folders ARE created when adding new categories in admin?

Welcome to 4images forum.
If no folders created when you created a category, then it means the permissions (http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=3383.0) (alt (http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=6836.0)) are not correct, or SAFE MODE (http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=6838.0) is enabled.

Welcome to 4images forum.
If no folders created when you created a category, then it means the permissions (alt) are not correct, or SAFE MODE is enabled.
Thanks for your reply.
I double checked the permissions on the folders and files, and they are correct.
SAFE MODE is not enabled.

I'm also having the same problem now.

Permissions to 'media' and 'thumbnails' is 777, and safe mode is OFF, I even double checked using PHPinfo.

However I am able to create 'categories' in admin. So permissions are in fact correct.
MAX Upload is also set properly

It seems that it works as it should AFTER youīve created the first two categories/folders manually.

Having same problem!
My gallery worked fine, then we had a server problem. Gallery worked fine again, now upload don't work, i shall choose a picture file.
Servermaster says that he didn't change anything. I tried a fresh 4images, installed it, created a category (category was created, chmod are 777) - upload still not work.
What's the problem   :?:

I am a newbie and had this problem for two days until I read your edit.  I realized then, that my mistake (and I am sure many who had/have this problem) - was that I assigned permissions AFTER I had created the categories - in my eagerness to show my gallery to people asap.

The simple solution is - work on the permission FIRST before doing anything else!  THIS HAS to be EMPHASIZED in the instruction manual.  To some of us who are not programmers (but can understand how software works etc.), details like this don't come naturally.

Now everything works ... I just have to tweak and add MODS.  This gallery is really good, relatively easy to install and use (compared to other galleries, and I have used most of them, including the expensive ones) and I am sure will be easy to custom to my and my users' taste.
