Jan,

How soon will NetPBM be supported in 4images?  i'm planning on starting a 4images project to add NetPBM support, but if you are planning on implementing it soon i won't have to.  please let me know.  thanks.

Because you have to work with the user and session management of phpBB or vBulletin. This will influence many features such like usergroups, upload, registration, who's online etc.

ok.  so basically what you're saying is: if you hack your board upon each upgrade you will have to hack it again to integrate it with one of these products.  that's a given.  probrably best done as an external project by some 4image *hackers*.  i think you have a nice base with your current comment system.  if it had more advanced features similar to vB or phpBB2 that would really take it to the next level.  also the NetPBM option that i mentioned would benefit a lot of ppl.  some ppl don't have the option to install GD or ImageMagick b/c they don't have root access.

That would be very hard, because you have to edit a lot of files and it will be nearly impossible to update to future versions of 4images...

why?  if all of the comments are stored in the db why would it be hard to update?  could you elaborate a little please?

well, both if you want.  :D

Hallo Leute!

Irgendwelche Pläne zu Unterstützung NetPBM in zukünftigen Versionen 4images?

NetPBM
http://sourceforge.net/projects/netpbm

NetPBM is an image manipulation package that handles many, many file formats. It is very flexible and can be used to scale, rotate and convert images. Many systems will already have this installed. If not, you can get a binary distribution from the Gallery Download page. You don't need to be root to install it on your system; you can just put these files in your home directory. If there isn't a binary distribution for your architecture, it's easy to compile your own version.
