GD2 Installation
« on: October 28, 2007, 11:29:01 AM »
Hello,

I have downloaded GD2.0.33, then I uploaded the whole gd directory to my root web server directory. I have also read the readme.txt file it says :
Quote
Quick install guide:

If the sources have been fetched from CVS, run bootstrap.sh [options].

From a released source, use:
1. Type './configure'
2. Type 'make install'

Generic configuration instructions are in the file INSTALL.

Can anyone tell me what that means?

One does not have to usually install GD2, it makes most Hoster already before For automatic Thumbnail production one uses better ImageMagic

look at this: http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php

Hello,

I found on the left (install from source), it took me to a page says :
Quote
Install from Unix Source

ImageMagick builds on a variety of Unix and Unix-like operating systems including Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, and others. A compiler is required and fortunately almost all modern Unix systems have one. Download ImageMagick.tar.gz from ftp.imagemagick.org or its mirrors and unpack it with this command:

and another choice is :

Install from Windows Source

Building ImageMagick source for Windows requires a modern version of Microsoft Visual Studio IDE. Users have reported success with the Borland C++ compiler as well. If you don't have a compiler you can still install a self-installing binary release.

Download ImageMagick-windows.zip from ftp.imagemagick.org or its mirrors. You can unpack the distribution with WinZip or type the following from any MS-DOS Command Prompt window:

Which one I choose ? I using windows vista for my PC and Unix for hosting server from Godaddy.

Thank your help

Hello,

OK, I have downloaded the ImageMagic zip file and unpacked it.

What is my next step?

Do I have to upload the ImageMagic directory to my Unix hosting root, and follow the installation instructions which are written on the site : http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php ? Am I right?

Please guide me.

Thank you so much

Hello,

Thank you so much for your quick reply.
Actually, I have a limited hosting web space with Godaddy. They gave me FTP & Hosting CP username and password.

Is that make difference?

Thank you for your help.
