INSTALLING A TEMPLATE

Hi, brand new here. PLEASE help me!! Version 1.7.4

I have downloaded a free template. I unzipped it and placed it in the templates folder using filezilla. I go to control panel in the 4images page and click on- "templates" and choose the style and click on "load theme" anf then "save changes". Nothing happens.

I apologise, I see this has been covered before but I still cant seem to get it right.

I am not a programmer or anything and am not very techical with code, surely it should be simpe?

control panel > menue "General" > Settings (NOT Edit Templates!) > Choose template directory
there is "default" rightnow.. choice another one and save changes
