i like this template its super simple but it lacks space for random images and i don't see the search box... i could try modifying it slightly to put those there. i already have many ideas of how to customize it.

wow thats alot of images! i didn't know that this was capable with 4images. this is great news for my site. i wonder what the max number of images possible are...
your website looks great and loads fast considering there are almost a quarter of a million images.

i meant that the data wouldn't return in a fashion that the users could see like the top.php file
but i found another feature they have to do just that (Navigator) it had a flaw though it only shows things that have atleast 6 votes but i'll just deal with it until they fix it.
its a nice easy fix to those that want a guestbook or ajax comments and ajax rating powered by javascript.
its slightly inconvenient that i have to login to their website to moderate but i can live with it.

wow thanks to budduke and v@no for the code i apreciate it and im sure im not the only one.
i feel somewhat good being the 1st post even though i didn't really contribute code-wise.
thanks again!

UPDATE:
i just replaced the code and removed what i felt was excessive javascript and i just tested my page loads using tools.pingdom.com as well as visiting the site myself and it seems to be loading faster than normal  :D
im not sure if this had anything to do with it but i think it does. either way im happy (2 birds with 1 stone)
im going to test it soon.

Chit Chat / page loads

do you wonder how long your page loads?
try this website i found.
http://tools.pingdom.com

it helps show you in real time what takes the longest to load and file size and more. and its free. i've used it a bunch of times for my 4image gallery.
give it a try and post your best page load time.
miraculously my best time was 1.96 seconds which i've never gotten again.
my more recent time was 7 seconds but i need to undo an experimental mod and compress javascript and try to cut back on html and scale down the thumbnails.

i think i got it to work i just took off the quotes on the path so the code looks like this.

 <div class="js-kit-rating" view="combo" path={image_id}></div>
<script src="http://js-kit.com/ratings.js"></script>

thanks for trying tho. hopefully it works but the only thing is that this would effect the top.php page

i use and recommend http://110mb.com
a lot more space and incredible amount of bandwitdh. upload max 8mb, there is a way to make it 100mb.
you need 2 get upgrades for mysql and .htaccess but its one time fees and no forced ads on your pages ever.

Chit Chat / Re: adding addthis to my website
« on: August 23, 2008, 04:54:50 AM »
i put it in the header but i guess it might depend on the content.
i put it on the  horizontal menu next to home,new,browse....and by the rss feed

your sites parked with go daddy ads so i cant help any more than that

lol sorry about that
http://js-kit.com

its pretty fast as the js files are hosted on their servers and all of the customizations have nice user friendly GUIs.
just insert the code into the html and enter in an openid as well as verrify that its your website.

but i still cant figure out the individual image rating using http://JS-Kit.com

i just saw this service called js-kit that uses javascript and simplifies commenting and rating.
im thinking of using it on my 4image site to simplify the commenting and rating
how do i use it for each individual image. i could only get it to work to rate one instance instead of for every image.
