MOD: Allowing user to edit their image details
« on: August 04, 2002, 05:39:24 PM »
Hi,

I've written a mod for 4images, that allows the user to edit the details in their own images (name, desc, keywords, allow image download, allow image as an ecard, etc, etc), but I'm not sure whether to include the ability to move / delete their own images.

Any thoughts on this one?  Deleting the images isn't really such a problem.  After all, it's their work, so if they want to delete it, they can.  It's more the moving part.  At the moment, we have 711 images in 27 categories.  If users go in and start moving their images all over the place, I'm concerned that it could all get out of control, with images ending up in the wrong categories, after the moderator team have put them in the correct category.

I welcome any thoughts on this subject.

Thanks,
Alan.

[EDIT:
Forgot to mention, and example of the mod can be seen at http://test-mod.artscans.co.uk.  Login as "as-test" with the password "test", and take a look at http://test-mod.artscans.co.uk/details.php?image_id=732 <-- that image.]

Update
« Reply #1 on: August 09, 2002, 12:00:05 AM »
Hi,

I've now added functions that allow the user to delete their own images, and also delete comments attached to their images.

Anyone have any suggestions for other features before I package it up and release it?  Any features you particularly want to see?

You can see the mod in action at http://www.artscans.co.uk, or http://www.onart.com, which will be having the mod installed in the next few days.

Thanks,
Alan.

Hi,

I'm afriad that this mod isn't publicly avalible yet.  There's still 5-6 things left on the list to add to it before it's due for release.

I'll post here as soon as it's been released.

Thanks,
Alan.

Hmmm... I'm not very good at giving release deadlines and sticking to them :)  Not a definate date, but a week or so?  Prob. more like 2 weeks.

Thanks,
Alan.

Hey Alan,

I tested this already in your gallery, works really cool.
I search for this options for my own gallery as well.

How long you think it will take the time to fix your codes?

I am well very interested

Thank you!

This function will be added as official feature for the next version. (Users can edit/delete own images/comments, each action can be enabled/disabled in the settings by admin).

Jan

Thanks...........I feel so stupid :(

I tried to download the new version and the language pack but received this notification:

You don't have permission to access /downloads/4images1.7.zip on this server.

Apache/1.3.24 Server at www.4homepages.de Port 80

I didn't have any problems downloading the main application last week. Any ideas?
