I'm trying to get away from using inline frames... any suggestions?

another example would be the random image on the main page of the site... if you click it, it obviously breaks the frame...

I'd rather put the whole thing in a php include... but I've not had any luck... I currently call an include which has an inline frame included

Hi ...

would someone mind looking at my gallery setup and give me some suggestions?

I'm having to use an inline frame because I cant get php includes to work... this is creating a lot of problems when redirecting etc... :(

also... does anyone have any fitting dark buttons? heh I'm too lazy to do the same to these as I did to the old 3dhomeworld hehe

thankies !

a bit similar to hotlink protection?

last time I enabled that on the server... half the images turned into "you've theived this from...." hehe

I have to admit the only thing that bothers me personaly is bandwidth theft so this doesnt apply to me too much

nice thinking going on there tho :)

one thing though Chris...

I like that idea, but I know alot of programs that can prevent javascript from operating.

So that would be MY way around that  :)

Hi folks,

I can't speak German and the last time I tried I failed miserably lol

Anyways, after talking to the author of Boardmod for yabb/yabbse message boards I've been given permission to release a version for 4images.

This program will allow you to automatically apply mod files to 4images within the software and once the final release comes out should make the life of noncode litterate modders easier.

noted features:

Log                    - tells the modder what scripts are installed/uninstalled
auto install          - mods the scripts fast and creates a log
auto uninstall      - uninstalls the script automatically
manual mod       - displays what lines should be replaced to mod manually
tag commands    - add before, add after, replace etc tags
and others I cant remember  :P

replace tags are usually thought of as bad practice because it means another mod wont be able to find the same syntax, this isnt a big problem but one that I thought I should note

The one problem with boardmod currently is that mod files have to be very strict, meaning that you will need to decide where new features should be, and of course when you are making the mod files that all the spaces etc are correct (this can be a pita when modding)

The final version of boardmod 4images will be supported by both www.4homepages.de and www.boardmod.org

I have included test mod files that have been edited to suit boardmod but you will need to edit them yourself for where they should be displayed on the gallery

Remember that this version has no formal support and that it should only be used by experienced modders

the link for the beta can currently be found here: www.3dhomeworld.com/4imagesmodder.zip

The current build is only supported for Windows 9x  a linux version is also in the works !!

Anyways, please tell us what you think...

to install, download the zip included in this post and extract it to your root directory (i.e C:\4imagesmodder\) there is a small fault in boardmod that doesnt like being embedded too far into the file system.

1. drop a FRESH version of 4images into the folder in 4imagesmodder folder.
2. run boardmod and then select the index.php file from within the program
3. apply a test mod and make sure everything mods/unmods ok

Remember that this is just a test, if you are a modder then feel free to convert your scripts to support boardmod.

once again,
please tell us how you get on :)

Discussion & Troubleshooting / Gallery Bandwidth usage
« on: October 05, 2002, 02:36:16 AM »
Hi fanncy pants,

I have to admit .. that compared to my site the gallery uses up very little bandwidth and I know for a fact that it gets accessed a lot...

what might make a difference is the size of your files...

no non pro (i.e billboard poster size) graphic should be much more than 100 to 150k for web use....

if you are on a cable provider and so are your visitors then 500k or so per visitor would result in a higher bandwidth than most...

hope that helps

heh sorry I didnt mean to be negative......

yeah it is good to come up with ideas etc

I just always think that crippling performace to improve security is something that microsoft would do   especially when it can be evaded by using print screen... of some other form of screen capture that doesnt use keypresses (or product keys)

ahh well...

I agree with you Chris... watermarks (no matter how ugly they might look) are probaly the best way to keep your files safe..

to think that you could slow the php process right  down.. disabling this... disabling that...

and then someone comes along, takes a screendump and pastes it into photoshop...

why bother?

14
ahhhh I think I got yah now :)

basically your asking how to display an image on another html page like the same idea as the random format..

as in if you were promoting a certain image...

I'm Scottish... I have an excuse  :D

anyways, glad that link helped in the end

Hi Annatchai,

you say your looking for something that would display an image randomly on an html page... doesnt randomly mean more than one alternating ? if so then it wouldnt be the image id you'd need to use it would be the category id. Then that category would display the images inside randomly.

The way I'd suggest you use is via a server side include and call a php file...
the mod instructions are already listed here with the required files
http://4homepages.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1020

hope that helps :)
thanks
