Problem E-Mail address in Settings

Since installing version 1.7.2 whenever I go to settings on the control panel. The admin e-mail address has been replaced with <a href= and my e-mail address appears to the right of the text box followed by these characters">. If I change any of the settings I need to insert my address again in the text box.

I have searched the site for any possible fixes, any help would be appreciated.

Cant reproduce it.
so, if you remove email address and save the settings, everything is ok? and once you added an email address it screwed up again?
are you sure you replaced ALL .php files with new files from v1.7.2 package?
