Really having fun with this: (a few more days)

Mods & Plugins (Requests & Discussions) / OMG Thats a long time.....

It has been almost 20 years since I started with 4images...... 8O

I recently found some old backups and installed the "new" 1.8 and wanted to try things out...

4images works, kind of, on php 7.4, but generates a lot of errors.... (in the log if you have display errors off, other wise )

I tried to look in the code, maybe I could debug it? But things got too difficult...

So, now I am building a new frontend, totally replacing the 4images frontend code, HTML5 and responsive (no tables anymore), just using the 4images database.. (and replacing the admin too, to make things easy)

It will not have the full functionality, the interactive part is not something I used on my sites anyway, but it will be a great gallery for images only for the time being. Other media types may follow later...

Yes I know, already in the old days people moved to flickr, and they are all on facebook and other "social" media now, but there are still many 4images sites active.....

Lets make the individuality return and 4images galleries great again, watch this space, soon!

Templates & Styles (Releases & Support) / [Template] Old but New
« on: May 18, 2007, 09:46:23 AM »
After a long time of no activity, I decided to update my templates for v 1.7.4

I put a little demo site up for the ones I already updated, the other ones will be updated over the next week, and then maybe some new ones as well :)

4light_grey, 4yellow_orange, 4greenish, 4swim.

hope you find them useful.

Look here:

No color or CSS changes, just layout, easy variable width, userbox removal, top/bottom change.

From the readme:

After creating 11+ templates in early 2002 its time to do something new.

This template is created from the basic 4images 1.7 template.

Unzip the file in your templates directory, and choose 4_default_wide
in the General/Settings section of the admin site.

1. Site width

To adjust the width of the site open the header.html from
this template and look for:
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">
at the end of the file.

Change the 100% to whatever you like, can be 90% or 80% relative width, or change to 1024, 800 or something, pixel width.

2. Top appearance

To change the top logo and layout you only have to change one file:
searchbox.php in the incl directory of the template.

3. "Click Bar" appearance

The layout of the clickstream and top/new images table is in the
click_incl.php in the incl directory of the template.

4. "User box" appearance

The layout of the user box cell is in the
user_incl.php in the incl directory of the template.

5. Bottom appearance

To change the bottom table layout you only have to change one file:
bott_incl.php in the incl directory of the template.

For questions / remarks about this template go to

Please leave the link to in the template, eventhough
you have changed the template. If you don't want the link there,
please place a link somewhere else on your site to, thanks!!

I am available for custom template design, contact me at my site.

A very anoying thing is that I have to login all the time...

With phpBB, no problem at all. Can go to the admin panel, and back
close browser  and hoppa auto login... But with 4imgs, no....

We talked earlier about this here:

But it is a problem, at least for me... or am I the only one with this ??

Discussion & Troubleshooting / Integrating
« on: June 26, 2002, 08:46:52 PM »

been rebuilding the good old homepage:

New Template for phpBB, and for 4images.
wrapped my homepage menu in them en rearanged
some things.

And then at the end, the moment supreme ( i hoped ):

A random image from 4images on the phpBB page(s)
following these instructions:

Aaarghhm, phpBB and 4imgages use the same function / class
names, so error....redeclaring ....

Anyone on this ?

Is there a way to call a random image from a html page ???
(not php)

something new, something old ( and improved )

Here you can download my new templates:

There are 4 of them, grey, red, blue and green.

These templates have round corners.

Feedback & Suggestions / Keep logged in...
« on: June 14, 2002, 12:26:50 PM »

my site doesn't keep me logged in ?!
(doesn't remember)

Is it suppose to work like phpBB ?, I can't remember that I had to fill in my password (again) on this phpBB board. Also my own phpBB board(s) remember me, they run on the same server configuration...

how to make it that I don't have to fill in my user / pwd everytime ?

Mods & Plugins (Requests & Discussions) / Second Random Image
« on: June 13, 2002, 02:01:02 PM »

I would like to have a second random image on the frontpage, and maybey on some other pages as well.

I copied the "random image block" but then I get the same image.

How can I create a second random image ?
