Discussion & Troubleshooting / 12 images on categories.php
« on: October 31, 2002, 03:11:51 AM »
Hi
I have 1.0 and very happy about it

My question: is there a way to show more than 9 thumbnails in the category page.
I want to show at least 10 thumb without having to change page, ie, I dont want to see 1 2 >> Last page

cheers

Feedback & Suggestions / Security concern on folders chmod 777

vibber Posted: 06.05.2002, 03:53    Post subject: 4images security problem?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everywhere I read about php and security I am told that setting a dir and the files in it to chmod 777 is a *major* security risk as an attacker can then put any file in the dir and execute it.

4images creates files and dirs that are chmod 777 and it seems very unsafe. Just because the script checks for file types so that no one can upload e.g. a PHP script *via 4images*, what prevents a hacker from finding *another way* in and putting a file inside the media dirs and execute it?

I think it is revealing that through this whole web site, security issues are not discussed at all.
I would like to hear the developer's thoughts (in detail) regarding the security of putting this script on a server.

Thanks Jan
the php code was actually intact, but I have found that removing it from the templates was the solution!!!

Installation, Update & Configuration / template

Jan
I am not even trying to make a template
I just tried to modify the default templates
Just removing a tag in the home.html or details.html was causing the error

hello

That's what I am trying to do:

I want to modify the templates (home.html, and details.html) to customise to my needs
I don't need the user login box, but want to add extra url in the same <td> instead (about this site, contact us...)

In the detail.html template, I need to remove the userbox tag {user_box} and move down a bit the {description} tag

It doens't work I get this error message:

Parse error: parse error in /Library/WebServer/Documents/4images/includes/template.php(130) : eval()'d code on line 122

What I don't understand is when I replace the old template with the backed up version the error is still there..

any ideas?

Installation, Update & Configuration / PDF download in rc2
« on: March 23, 2002, 01:00:25 AM »
HI JAN

I can't wait rc2 and the language files...or I guess I need to start learning german...

This is be best image gallery I have seen, at least the one which meet my needs...

My question:
I am working on a student work gallery. They will submit they artwork, and pdf or word documents (thesis)

Basically I need to do what is shown on this demo page: http://demo.4homepages.de/details.php?image_id=70

Is it going to be included in rc2, or I will need to modify your application. I have tried to translate Phedo's topic on this subject with altavista but didn't make any sense.

If yes I am happy to wait for rc2, if not included would you reply with the instructions in english (or french).

cheers
Frederic
