I am very interested in the 'instant' effect and would like to use this as the thumbnail default.

Can someone please advise me of what code would be necessary to facilitate this function?

We are looking at running two 4images sites but wish to share 1 user database for both. This is so that once you register for one site then you immediately get access through to the second.

Is this possible?

Is it necessary to complete all 4 MODs to complete this desired effect or is each MOD a separate solution in its own right?

Is it possible to edit the contents of the email that is sent out to new users to verify their registration?

We are looking at including more information such as terms and conditions of usage and also deletion of accounts after non-usage

Templates & Styles (Requests & Discussions) / Making change to KW template
« on: November 18, 2008, 04:06:11 PM »
Hi

I am aware that KW is the moderator of this area of the forum and I would appreciate his comments if he has time to do so.

I have downloaded the template Nr.124 (White flowers) and although I am working through making a couple of changes to suit our site I have come across one thing that I would like to amend however I cannot find how I make the changes

Can you point me in the right direction?

Within the admin screen (General>Settings) when you specify the 'site name' this is then displayed as text on the front and recursive pages near the top of the page (under the top menu). Rather than put text there I would like to use our charity logo but when I put the path of the image in the site name then that is also displayed as the page title and also on the 'no right click' pop-up window.

Is there a workaround for this?

Many thanks, Ian

Has anyone distributed a MOD similar to that of KurtW's site at http://4images.malediven-bilder.de?

Any registered user that downloads a file is first taken to a holding page for 60secs which prompts the user for a donation via PayPal. If the countdown clock expires then the user is presented with a link to download the requested file.

Very clever indeed.

As a footnote KW, fantastic site by the way! Have downloaded a template and will be making a donation when the final build is finished.

The download link for this MOD is broken.

Have tried over 3 days but consistently stating that the page is not available

Does anyone have the file or a location to link it from?

If someone has the file then I will happily supply hosting

Can anyone tell me if the code at http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=7499.msg33712#msg33712 was tidied up to work properly? I can see some people had problems with it?

I am not sure if what I am seeing is how 4Images is meant to work or if I am making a hash of it but when you go to my gallery then you see the thumbnails of all the images uploaded - great but when you click on those images you get the full sized image.

Now at this point I will mention that some of our images are about 3000 pixels wide so they tend to be quite large and as a result the image disappears off the page

So what I am wondering is if it is possible to get a smaller rendering of the image but the actual image that the user downloads is the full sized image? (almost a sub-image or a second thumbnail)

I got to the bottom of it,  it was the 30secs limit of max_execution_time which was causing the problem.

I spoke to my hosting provider and they replied as follows (which was to be expected)...

"We regret to inform you that we cannot change the default PHP settings on our servers. If we increase the 'max_execution_time' or 'upload_max_filesize' it will effect the performance of the server <server IP> very badly. It will increase the load on the server causing downtime for many of the sites."

But I still want to get my larger images on the site so I was wondering if the following would work...

...if I create a folder on the website called 'store' and then uploaded the images via FTP so when I add files to 4images I use the URL section instead of the file upload and then just put URL of the file - http://<mysite>/store/<filename.jpg>

Will this work?

Hi, thanks for the points - I am totally out of my comfort zone with PHP!!

max_execution_time =30 (seconds I believe, this should be plenty to upload 2Mb as I have a decent cable DSL connection)
post_max_size = 8M (certainly all photos are less than that)
upload_max_filesize = 2M (all files so far have been less than 2Mb)

With the advice (that server settings could impact on uploading files) then I suppose I need to try smaller files which are quicker to upload
