 :lol: isn't it nice when I myself can't remember how I did something, but I remember I did write here on 4images forums the final solution I came up with here so that the other members of the 4images communinty may be able to find this solution easily without having to do all the searching I did ??

Now I myself needed to see what I wrote back then.....

thank you again Nicky and Thunderstrike and long live 4images

Hi,

would i be possible that some can ad a javascript which automatic udate/reload the page, for reason you are working with a slow servermachine an the thumbnail creation and annotation process takes longer, so that you would't get an timeout (or that the page does not respond anymore), like SLL realized it in his "Image Annotation (Watermark) Mod"?

Do you know what i mean/need?

Armin

Good to see am not the only one having this issue

es ist vielleicht nicht ein Problem mit dein server, aber diese checkimages.php ist sehr server-greedy

it kills my httpd apache every time I use it.

excellent mod.. shud be part of the next release.. :)

definitely. this mod is probably the best that has ever been made to 4images.

19
1) u dont need create any folders, the script will create them automaticaly if needed
2) I just tryed on 4images v1.7 and everything worked just fine...are u sure u have the lattest version of this mod?
3) what 4images version do u use?
4) just for testing purposes, remove all @ from the checkimages.php and see if any error messages showed.

V@ano
adding images through this modified checkimages.php is soooo resource intensive that you are sure it will kill httpd apache.
Is this something you would expect? I am on my own VPS with 2GB of RAM. maybe the problem is related to the big number of categories I have.

Installation, Update & Configuration / share data by 3 installations
« on: January 14, 2008, 05:59:59 AM »
hello.

3 domains on one server. no users. just me.

I am technically able to find out my way to sharing the DB info and the data (pictures).

But would not google see this as 3 domains on one server presenting the same data 3 times, and thus , kill our rating ?

There are many posts about this issue, try using the search again. It's very simple:

1. Duplicate the "admin" folder
2. Upload the duplicate and rename it (f.e. "headadmin") - this will be the original admin folder with all the original admin functions just accessible for you.
3. Passwort protect the "headadmin" folder (for better security)

4. Go now to the "admin" folder - this will be the the folder for the moderators!
5. Delete all the stuff from the php files you wont moderators to have access (f.e. delete all exept "validate images", "edit images" and so on
6. Make your moderators "administrators" from the edit user menu.

Thats it, it works for me. You can even give your moderators in the session.php an other color. If you dont know how i will post it.

thank you. really.

thank you Nicky

Thank you Thunderstrike, but I simply wanted to replace the comma with two spaces, which was as simple as replacing

$sub_cat_list .= ", ";

with
$sub_cat_list .= "   ";

23
yeah, we know your statement about coding ;)

Nicky don't hate me please.... but 4images is one of the most successful gallery scripts, if not the most successful one.

I love it. I use it on more than five domains. Yes, I did need to install a few hacks and to tweak .htaccess files to get many of its resource-greedy functions (such as checknewimages) to work, but I still consider it as an awesome script. I give 4images thumbs up on its functions, and for me it stands far ahead of any other competitor including menalto.

I believe 4images did a lot to the community, and it has not had the reward it deserves.

Yet, I need to draw maybe your attention to the fact that when used in other languages (say for example, arabic) the default comma separator between subcategories does not stand out nicely, at least not in any of the styles I have tried. The comma appears too close to the name of the subcat to the point where it disturbs the eye. Thus my suggestion to make this an option not something hardcoded.

I hope you would forgive my weak expression in English which is not my mother tongue.

Danke

hello.

it took me more than an hour of research to find out on my own that the separator between subcategories in the home page (default is comma) is burried deep into includes/functions.php

        $sub_cat_list .= ", ";

I wish this could be well documented somewhere, and even put as an option in the admin panel ......  (the separator in the location bar - ok clickstream - in the page header is already something you set in the admin panel ..... )

I am just against hardcoding as a matter of principle.

Hello.

http://www.4homepages.de/4images/license.php#english
Commercial utilization is fundamentally said to exist whenever the operator of 4images is not a private person, a non-profit organization or an academic institution

well, I am a private person, and I am not making any profit out of my site, but I do display paid ads to pay for the server fees.

do I need a commercial license for 4images in this case?

FAQ, Tips / Re: How can I include another PHP file in the templates?
« on: September 28, 2007, 02:20:54 PM »
Open the 4images html template where you would like to include your PHP file and include it like this:
Code: [Select]
<?php
include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']."/relative/path/to/my/include.php");
?>

works like a breeze. so easy. thank you very much.

Installation, Update & Configuration / Re: EPS Thumbnais
« on: August 13, 2007, 11:19:17 AM »
hello,

I have version 4images 1.7.4 with Imagemagick. Postscript is installed on the server as well. Thumbnails for common image formats like GIF and JPG work, but when I upload an EPS no thumbnail is created automatically. When I use the Auto-Thumbnailer in the admin interface and search for new images the uploaded EPS doesn't show up as a new image either. When I change the condition in the thumbnailer.php (for which images are shown by the thumbnailer) and then use the thumbnailer to create an EPS it sais that an error has occurred in Imagemagick.

How can I make it so that EPS thumbnails are being created automatically? I am also interested in PDF if that is possible. Or what else can I do to debug the problem?

The problem is that first it doesn't even try to create the thumbnail, and when I force it to try it fails.

Kai

Poor guy, 24 july-13 august no one cared to give you an answer
