I double the request :D please help us to use 4images as a component/module in joomla, instead of using joomla wrapper function… :|. I think this will be the best CMS- gallery combination available  :D

Thanks in advance :)

You might want to look at the Joomla component "com_connector" http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,21066.0.html  I believe that with it you may be able to acomplish what you are looking for.

here is the basic idea of the component that scubaguy mentioned above. Now if the 4images developers can spend about maybe 15 mins on this then maybe 4images can be integrated with joomla. here is the LINK (http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,21066.0.html)
sample SMF file is attached. it has comments which are helpful.
sample phpbb file is attached. that is the basic level integration needed.
vbulletin file is also attached, in case anyone wants a look :)
the functions that need to be done ( taken from the SMF file ) by the 4images developers are :
these are all well marked and commented in the smf file. if the developers of 4images could do this then we can use joomla and 4images together.

Thanks in advance :)

oh nooo.... then who does? if my understanding is correct, just the code from 4images login function, user update function, etc needs to be included in that file. the smf one has been done already, and has the most functions. ie: user add, user del, user set etc, which can all be done through mambo. The most simplistic one is phpbb wich has just login and logout stuff, i think.
The smf attachment is properly commented. could somebody please just fill in the correct info so that we could start testing :)

Making a common login and integrating the user management into joomla/mambo is a nice idea, but the real use of this component/bridge will be when the 4images URL is reflected in CMS joomla/mambo URL….

^^ i dont understand. :(  i think that the component creates a wrapper for the 4images site. I have setup one for a default 4images and default Joomla and i think it looks great. In my site, i dont need the integration, but its nice to offer a powerful gallery software as 4images to potential clients who wish to use joomla.
my site: http://cutewalls.com  -> Look at the gallery link :D

Hi friends,

the Problem is, that a lot of People are using 4images and change to joomla...
more then 70% (sites with gallerys) install the community builder on Joomla/Mambo

the majority of the 4imagessites are communitys and with the time to CMS will change.
thinks of my words. I remind you in one year again of it

Please look at the Menalto-Gallery, he understand, that CMS-Integration inexorably, or 4images is a dead end for all CMS changed Websites

if anyone is trying to make an integration, then please take the url matter into consideration, rather than just integrating the user management part, give first preference to url integration, cause if a spider cannot index our sites well then there is very less chance that it will show up on the top 20 pages...

the wrapper functions is the last pref, cause it just does an visual integrations.... and from my experience; I have see, that even the best spiders do not index well within the wrappers... can say did not do it at all in my case.... spiders find it difficult to index such sites using frames....

Let's hope that out of our massive 12992 (as per 16/3/2006 ;) ) members here at 4images, someone comes up with a MOD to achieve this...
Wishing all the best  :D

I would pay anyone who would come up with the mambo/4images bridge (one login for both cms and 4images)
if you can do this and do it reasonably soon, make it functional, contact me! I need my 4images gallery and I really need to upgrade to a CMS asap.

Unfortunate that there exist a Bridge for Coppermine and Menalto Gallery... however not for 4images, although 4images is better than all different. :(
Are there none to can solve that?

I guess the problem is 2fold

1. if you have 4images installed and you want to add joomla then you have to use 4images usr database...
2. if you have Joomla installed and you add 4images then you need to use Joomla user database.

Even if someone comes with a bridge it will need a clean install..means that all of your users should re-register..which might be a pain.

One  solution:
Install Joomla with no user registration..then use the com component to include 4images where the people will need to register and can use the option remember me forever.

The cool thing is that SMF can be integrated easily with Joomla with (remember me forever option) so you can have 2 logins: one for Joomla/SMF and one for 4images. Tell the users to check the option remember forever...and problem solved.

I personaly think that all of the net softwares should have a standart..one DB usernames and passwords...so you can integrate back and forwards..

G2 Integration...

just throwing my support in for a joomla/4images bridge with shared login, etc.
would definitely pay for it or donate without hesitation!
I don't even know any decent joomla developers that could handle the job. I contacted one, but he never bothered to get back to me.

4image is the best gallery solution I ever used . It should be combined with Joomla!
Please reconsider making this  :D

There are a couple of great SMF-Joomla bridges... would be great to have also an Joomla-4images bridge... that way we wouldn't need an SMF-4images bridge :p

for me it would be also good to have a bridge for Joomla.
I work with joomla and with 4images.
Would be very good if someone can make it please!! :D

Hallo,

Hi guys,
For me it will be also very helpful if someone make such a thing so let’s see how much everyone of us wish to donate and then we will find someone who can do it. What do you think? My programming knowledge is very poor but I suppose this is quite hard work so lets pay to someone to do it.

yes bridges exist for Gallery2 and coppermine

TWO WORDS.....they suck!

I spent all day today installing a fresh joomla and 4images, coppermine, and gallery2

to try to determine the best solution for my project

4images is the way to go... hands down
gallery2 seemed just silly and the bridge was wonky
coppermine was a little confusing and agian the bridge was wonky

4IMAGES feels like the work of gods compared to those 2

Joomla is the best answer for easy to implement CMS and many many people are turning to this platform
I personally install about 2 week

but the problem with Joomla is that no really good comprehensive image gallery exists

4images could be this gallery
but we need a bridge

I can already merge the two using the wrapper function in the frontend and make it look seamless

but linking 4images as a componant into the joomla admin panel is the ideal way to go

Id be willing to donate real money to this project
