i have had to reinstall an old backup, but i seem to have a problem when uploading a large file

i upload an 18 mb file

and after it uploads the page changes to

Control Panel
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In case you forgot your password, enter the email address you have used for registration

?

and also the file is not uploaded or viewable from within the gallery
i have allowed upto 20mb file size by editing the .htaccess file and within the admin upload section and that worked fine before i had to re-install

has anyone got any ideas please
, all the data/media are chmodded to 777

small files work - even upto 5mb it works fine

i would like to create a seperate folder for sessions and temp files, how can this be done please!

the reason being i was getting

Warning: session_start(): open(/tmp/sess_f4ba660db5bcf8f7cb36b9d87d975dc2, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied

and doing a search on this site, told me that it was the host!

so i contacted my host , who then said it must be an issue with 4images as all other php and mysql systems were fine!

he said he has done a temp fix, and the error has now gone, but he said i need to create a directory to store sessions and temporary files and set it to 777

why does this problem arise and how can the host fix this himself, as all posts regarding this issue on this site, is answered with ask your host to fix it?

I have been searching and i have read that by default the number of images and categories  are shown as a statistic

where are these shown and how to enable it?

are they only shown in the admin section? - how can i make them visible on the home.html please

i have http://www.christoph-bachner.net/chcounter , which i have seen intergrated into 4 images along the left hand side under the random image section

how can i implement this, i know the code i need to add, i just don't know where to add it

i'd appreciate any help

Hi, please look at these sites, and tell me how they achieved the following results

http://www.pcdoyen.com/gallery/ this one i would like to know how they did roll over on the images, i.e they are faded but when you go over them they highlight to normal colour, this is a great effect and i would like it also.. how is this done please
and also at the bottom it has a statistic box, what is he using

http://www.bakerpic.net.tc/ this one along the left hand side, he has some statistics - like number of members , visitors today, page hits etc, what has he used for that or how has he done it
