Need to delete and/or rename a subcategory/folder

Hello.  Could you please tell me how I can delete and or rename a sub category/folder (w/out having to delete the main category it is under)?  I have only found a way to delete a main category, but can not find an option to delete a sub. 

I am using version 1.7.4

Just click the litte + at the left side of the main category...
