Thumnails all in the same size

i want to autocreate thumbnails in the size 80x120px. in the acp i can only select a fixed size for the high or the width of an thumbnail. but what can i do to auto create all thumbnails with fixed size of the same widt and high?
in my cause the problem is, if i upload a picture in a size like it comes from the camera and the thumbnail is generated with an high of 80px everything is ok. but if i upload an picture with a format like a panorama the high of the thumb is still 80 px but the lenght is absolutely to long.
i searched the hole forum many times but i could not solve the problem. maybe anyone can help me.

you would have to edit them in ACP afterwards.
I have not seen a setting to make fixed width & height at same time

There use to be a post that someone knew how to do this, but it looks like they deleted their post.
