Could not connect to the database server

Hallo,
die Installation klappt nicht, obwohl ich eine Datenbank und einen Benutzer angelegt habe. Der Benutzer hat auch alle Rechte (funktionieret mit MySQL-Front und ODBC).
Was kann das sein.

hi,

fange wir von vorne an:

1. serversoftware
2. webserver software
3. php version
4. mysql version

"Could not connect to the database server"
bedeutet das der hostname falsch eingegeben wurde...

Sorry, kommt sofort...

OS: SuSE 7.3
WS: Apache 1.3.20-29 Perl 1.3.20-29 PHP 1.3.20-29 MySQL 1.3.20-29

Hostname hab ich probiert mit: "IP-Hostname", IP-Hostname.Suffix" und localhost.

Und wie gesagt, mit MySL-Front uund ODBC kann ich einen "Connect" machen und Tabellen anlegen.


P.S. Kann man das Forum auch irgendwo bekommen, ist klasse...

also das kann es nicht sein:

WS: Apache 1.3.20-29 Perl 1.3.20-29 PHP 1.3.20-29 MySQL 1.3.20-29

Apache: 1.3.20 OK
aber perl, php und mysql.. NICHT...


ich hätte andere:

was für ein mySql-Front soll das sein ?
bzw wozu ODBC auf einen linux server ?

Telnet bzw. SSH vorhanden ?
wenn ja gebe folgendes ein:
ps aux --sort user (wird ermittelt welche dienste laufen bzw. ob mySQL "alive" ist.)


dann: mit deinen mySQL-Front kannst ja die DB "mysql" tabelle "user" auslesen:
dort kannst finden welche host oder ip du benutzten sollst..

die foren software findest bei http://www.phpbb.com

HI,
MySQL-Front und ODBC hab ich nicht auf dem Server, sondern auf'm Windows Rechner, weil halt so nen bisschen bunt...
ausserdem kann man so MS-Access Tabellen nach MySQL portieren.

Was die Versionen angeht, haste Recht. Das kommt, wenn man im Yast2 an der falschen Stelle guckt. War halt noch früh.

apache     1.3.20
mod_perl  1.26
php          4.0.6
mysql      3.23.44

Hab auch gerade den Fehler gefunden...
Der DB-User muss explizite Rechte auf localhost haben. Alle Hosts geht nicht.

War halt erster Versuch mit MySQL/PHP

alles klar..

ich benutze den selben mySQL ODBC auf w2k ;) um auch ACCESS tabellen zu exportieren bzw. mysql dbs/tabellen einzulesen...

nur verstehe nicht was das mit der 4images installation zutun hat ? *g*

wie auch immer, du hast es geschaft..

ich sagte schon damals
""Could not connect to the database server"
bedeutet das der hostname falsch eingegeben wurde..."
oder falscher benutzer ...
