Alexander,
K sozhaleniju u menja net nastojaschej russkoj versii Windows. Poetomu mne ne udalos' ispolzovat' svoi zhe perevod. Dejstvitelno, on ne rabotajet.
Problema v tom, chto faily sohraneni v Unicode.
Vam nuzhno ih otkrit' i sohranit kak tekst: Save as Type - *.txt, Encoding - ANSI. Zatem pereimenovat ih v *.php
Esli ja na svojem kompiutere sohraniaju fail kak ANSI, vsia kirilliza prevraschjaetsja v kashu. Poetomu ja i sohranil ih kak Unicode.
PHP zhe Unicode ne liubit.
Dajte mne znat', jesli u Vas chto-nibud' poluchitsja.
Jesli zhe ne poluchitsja, dumaju chto vam pridetsja perevesti vse faily LANG na vashem kompiutere - nadejus' chto u vas problem s kirillizej net.
S nailuchshimi pozhelanijami.

Dear Jan,
I installed 1.7 on my laptop and run it locally.
(This way I can build my database while travelling and simply update on-line database at a later date).
1.7's work is seamless. So smooth! I had it up in 2 minutes! Great! I should up-grade the main gallery on-line soon.

When permissions are set to Private, all the dropdown boxes show by default No.
I was trying to figure out what to change in the script in order to forse the dropdowns to show by default Yes.
My users generally behave very well. There is just one... well. So, instead of setting Yes, Yes, Yes... five hundred times, it would be nice to set only one user to certain No's.

P.S. It seems it is the admin/usergouprs.php which I have to modify, but I don't dare to mess up with it without an advice from you - my website doesn't yet run locally.

There is still something strange with assiging and restricting permissions.
I copy the table from phpMyAdmin here for clarity:

Showing records 0 - 20 (20 total)

So, I tell, I created the group 2, but I did not create these groups 9, 10, etc. There are only two groups wich I wanted to create Members and Restricted - group_id="1" and group_id ="2". That's all.

Sorry, I was unable to solve this task myself.
I have two user groups - "Members" for good users, and "Restricted" for bad users (fortunately there are not many, but enough to mess up the things).
I assigned bad users to the Restricted group, but I can't set permissions to the "Restricted" group.
In the Admin interface of 4images there is no dropdown "Yes/No" to set the permission to the User groups. I guess it should be there, but I don't see it. Manipulations via phpMyAdmin did not help to get the dropdowns visible.
Well, I assigned group permissions via phpMyAdmin. Everything seems to be correct, but the group doesn't behave the way I need.
Certain users can still post their unwelcomed comments.

I don't know what happened, but here is what I did:
1. I set permissions for that troublesome category to 9.
After that the counter of pictures had doubled its value (which I have not noticed immideately, and later it was hard to trace back).
2. Today I set the permissions back to 0.
The counter came back to normal. Now it shows correct number of pictures.

There are subcategories. Another mistery - today the number has changed. Inside the category (including several subcategories) - 114 images.
When you go outside the subcategories it shows 224 images.
Nobody uploaded anything, no invisible categories whatsoever.
I feel like I have done something weird without realizing it. I did not change any code anywhere in your pages. I was only editing my data through MyPHPAdmin.
Its possible that some of my MySQL commands were not correct, but in the Database everything else is correct. Just that misterious number is strange and only in one category. All the rest is really perfect.

Strange thing... The quantity of pictures shown on the main index page next to category name is exactly twice the actual number of pictures.
I refrase it for clarity:
On the index page you see: "Photos" (name of category), "226" (number of pictures). You open the folder "Photos", and you see that there are 113 pictures. 113 is the correct number.
It doesn't seem to be a problem, but I wonder why on the index page the number is exactly twice the true number.
