I really have better things to do in life than spend it arguing with someone who assumes superiority on the basis of negligible data. Your opinions about me are a matter of some indifference as you know no more about my online experience than I do about yours.

The suggestion, made in good faith, was that for mixed galleries containing both pictures and video files, it may be possible to leave the standard download script alone, so that the picture viewing/download was unchanged, then using avi.html (which is only invoked for vidoe files) to link to a simple download script instead of trying to play and/or load the video files into server memory.

If that was a naive suggestion then I apologise to the useful members of this board for wasting their time.

I may be stupid but:

a) I wasn't specifically talking to you

b) I didn't say anything about playing video files in relation to your post

c) At least I listen. It is extremely obvious from Vano's reply that corrupt files are a result of the script reading the file into server memory before download

and

d) It appears Oswald gave a working solution right at the start of this thread

Maybe I'm stupid but if you want to force download of a video file while allowing picture galleries to work normally, wouldn't it be better to edit avi.html in templates so it downloads the file instead of playing it?

Maybe you are using a new version of IE that blocks such things. Look if there's a line under the address bar saying 'download blocked'. If so, click on it and allow download.

I upgraded from .14 to .16 on an existing installation using this mod and it works fine.
