Chit Chat / Web Host needed

Well, after no further respone from that host,  I'm still looking...

Again, the key things I need here are:
BANDWIDTH (20gig + per month)
FULL support for 4hompeages script and ImageMagik!! (no safe mode!)
FrontPage Suport
Custom 404s
FTP access
75Megs+ space
Less than $15/month
Allow some adult content! (this is not a business /pay orn site..just has some adult humor and pictures in the gallery)

Certainly SOMEONE knows of a good place to go with?
My current host (echolima.com) is pretty solid, but they are getting too expensive as I keep going past my bandwidth limits (currently 30gig limit)
And they run safe mode, so my gallery is weak due to lack of thumbnails (and time )
I'd like to fix both problems (bandwidth and safe mode) by getting another host to place my gallery and a few select other pages/files that eat a lot of bandwidth to kinda balance the load.

Ok..so I've accepted there is no way to get imagemagik on my server and no way to get the autothimbnail feature to work with my current host.
So now my next headache is this:

I've got all my pictures thumbnailed.  All the pictures and thumbs are uploaded to the proper dir.  Is there a fast way tto tell the script to use the thumbnail than to go through each picture one at a time and just point to it?  The filenames are the same...and they are all there..

I've checked out your plans..  Your site shows plan C with 1 SQL database, for $10/month.  I would like at leaast 2 databases.  And I don't need 300megs of space, or the extra pop Email accounts or mail lists.  If you can ditch those extras and set it to 5 databses with 100Megs of space for now, for under $10 a month, I'm interested.
I'm also looking or a host that is willing to cut a deal in return for some banner advertising and good words.  Last month, the site had about 300,000 hits.  I currently have NO other banners/advertisers set up.  If putting one on a few pages shaved a handful of dollars off, I'd like to discuss this.

I have not really found a host yet, as you can see here the replies have been pretty much nonexsistant.  
Here's what I need:
(2)MySql Database
Latest PHP installed
Image Magik installed and ready to run (NO SAFE MODE)
50megs of space (min)
15gigs of transfer/month.
I do NOT need any email features(other than needed by 4images) /webmail, subdomains,or  FrontPage support.
full CGI would be a nice option, but needed now.

I expect a speedy, stable, secure server.  If all goes well, my need for tech support will be minimal..

Right now, the whole gallerytakes up less than 10 megs..so my asking for 50megs is simply a little planning ahead..I can get by with less for now.

I'm looking for an INEXPENSIVE webhost strictly for the purpose of hosting my image gallery.  So of course, I want one that FULLY support all the features (no SAFE MODE, latests PHP, mySql etc...)
Also, this host MUST allow adult content.  My website is not a "hardcore adult porn site" but does contain plenty od adult works, humor, and pictures.  The gallery would thereefore also contain these things.  (nothing illegal of course -child porn etc..)

They must be reliable (downtime is NOT acceptable) and SPEEDY.
I've searched aroud already myself, but it's tedious to have to read all the fine print about adult ocntent, and then have to dig deep to find out if they run safe mode etc...  its very time consuming.

I won't need a whole lot of SPACE since nothing more than my gallery will be here.  I won't need any extra email, subdomains, ftp accounts or other perks  one might pay extra for.  I'm hoping this will keep the price down to under $10 a month.. I know it's easy to find such a host if you don't have adult content.  Once again I stress this isn't any sort of PAY for Porn fullout- hardcore porn site.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for sharing your findings.

u guys should upgrade to the latest version, 1.6, if ur host got safe mod on, it will work too

I don't think 1.6 allows safe mode enabled servers to use these features...I've posted before with problems with image magick and thumbnails and after many headaches, came to the conclusion that's it's beacause of safe mode I cannot get any of them to work... If you know differently, please explain

Just uploading it will not work.  You'll need your system admin to install and configure it.

You won't be able to do it yourself without root access.

..and if you are on a shared server, you probably can't use it anyhow

Helpme:  Does you thimbnail feature work now?  I'd like to check out your virtual host if they allowed if they allowed you root and/or disabled safe mode for you...

How about this as a temp. solution.. say I decied to manually make thumbnails for all my pics..
Can I upload all these thumbnails at once Via FTP and a dir and have them work like that?  What do they need to be labeled?  What DIR do they go to?

I'd like to point out that those are server-side files..

It can be confusing for some of us who are just simple webmasters who wish to use this script because it seems many replies and support answers seem to assume you are the server admin.

What this means to the rest of use who are just paying for webhosting on a shared serever is that you HOST needs to have this software installed on the server you are using.  You will need to contact them and find out if it is, and if so, what the correct path to it is.  And note, before you spend too much time trying to get it, you should be aware that if you are on a Shared server chances are you won't be able to use the feature anyhow because of safe-mode restrictions.  I.E: No auto-thumbnails.

Thanks for the reply... that did seem easy enough, but I have changed the settings, and it still is only showing 1-5 instead of 1-100.

Ok, thanks...that is what I needed to know.  I showed it to my host and he said there was no way they would turn off safe mode nor do they give root access.  I just wish I had known ahead of time, and saved much time and efforts.  

Let me ask this then, is ther ANY way I can get thumbnails done on the fly?  Prehaps someone knows a different script?  I'm a huge fan of the 4homepages script thus far, but without thumbnails, my gallery is pretty tame and will just end up eating extra bandwidth as people have to click everything to have any idea what it's about.

I'd like to see the option to rate the pictures on a scale of 1-10 rather than just 1-5.  I have no knowledge of how to change this myself, but it seems it would be easy enough for someone who knew how.
Or even 1-100.  Just that 1-5 doesn't allow for much difference between Awesome and ok.  Or how about custom polls for pictures instead of just a simple 1-5 vote?

Anyone who is willing to do this?
