"Error uploading image file"
« on: February 27, 2006, 07:49:25 PM »
Hi.

I've just installed 4images, and it works allmost fine.

But when I wanted to add pictures I just get the messege "Error uploading image file"

But if I upload with ftp and add the URL it works. But why can't I upload them on the page?

Hm, maybe the rights of the images-directory are not correct.

What should they be, and how do I change them?

And which directory does it upload to ?

the directory data/media was 755 and I made it to 777.
But its still same problem :(

Ive found a readme file, and changed a bounch of diretories and files.

But this message is still the only thing that appears when Im trying to upload - "Error uploading image file"

I think it's something about the rights of the directory.
But what exactly? I don't know..  :|

1) where are you trying to upload images from? members upload form or ACP?
2) how big are the files?

I've just try to do it in ACP. There I get some more information, but still no picture i uploaded.

"Error uploading image file: emule.gif
emule.gif: Copy error. Please check the directory permissions.

No database entry!"

I've tried with much smaller pictures than the limits, so it should'nt be a problem.

But I really think that have made the correct chmod settings. I followed the readme file.

Check if SAFE MODE is enabled on your server (look in phpinfo (read FAQ about phpinfo))
If its enabled, then try to follow instrucitons in the FAQ.
If its disabled, then CHMOD is not set right, many people have claimed that they did everything right, but at the end it turned out they didnt... ;) double check everything.

Could send me a list of files and directories that need to have changed chmod?

I really double checked everything twice with no result.

I got a mail from Surftown (the company that host the server) and they say
that the server runs in Safe-mode, and it can't be changed :(

Is this really necessary yo have an working upload function ?

I am having the same issue... I read all of your responses and I have researched the following:

1) Safe_Mode has been turned off locally and globally on my webserver (http://www.swvonline.com/phpinfo.php)
2) I went through all of my folders twice and I have followed all of the directory instructions.

I am still receiving this error:

Error uploading image file:
024.jpg: Invalid file type (jpg, image/jpg)

Could someone please help me out? Thanks... Saeed

hmmm...I'd say MIME settings on your server is kind of...well anyways, in includes/upload_definitions.php find:
Code: [Select]
$mime_type_match['jpg'] = array("image/jpeg", "image/pjpeg");replace with:
Code: [Select]
$mime_type_match['jpg'] = array("image/jpeg", "image/pjpeg", "image/jpg");
And in the future if you have again this problem follow this tutorial.
