Netpbm is not working with 4images v1.6.1

We have netpbm working fine with 4images v1.5 however it does not work with 4images v1.6.1 here is what it does.

After uploading the image or the images, click on outo thumbnailer, click on check thumbnails (works fine) then click on create thumbnails then I get this message;

Create thumbnail for: Edwin Austin Abbey (abbey_enlarge.jpg) ....  
   Error creating thumbnail!

Could someone please tell me whats wrong.

Ok. I checked my installation. For me it works fine. It's hard to say from here whats going wrong. Did you double-checked the path to NetPBM?

Yes Jan,

As I said before the version 1.5 (our demo site) works fine, the problem seems to occur with v1.6.1.

Could it be something with directory permissions?
Can you suggest anything for us to debug it?

I really get this out the door and deliver to our customer asap.

Hi,

hard to say from here whats going wrong.

Do you have NetPBM installed on the server or do you use this pre-compiled packages? If you use second one, check the permissions of the NetPBM files, should bei chmod 755.

Check the directory persmissions of the data-folder and the subdirectories.

Jan, as i said netpbm is working fine. I have tested with another image application.

However I tried something else and it failed. This may give you some clue;

I deleted all the pictures from the 4images, i removed all the subdirectories under media manually by rm -r *, then I tried to add an image and I got error. Here is the error;

Warning: Unable to create './../data/media/1/abbey_enlarge.jpg': No such file or directory in /home/comenos/comenosfinearts-www/includes/upload.php on line 111

Warning: Unable to move '/tmp/phptp5clJ' to './../data/media/1/abbey_enlarge.jpg' in /home/comenos/comenosfinearts-www/includes/upload.php on line 111

whats about the permissions of the data-directory und the subdirectories. Have you checked if the category-folders exists (folder "1" in this case)?

Let me ask you a question;

Can I delete the database and the following folders and their subfolders;
database
media
thumbnails
tmp_media
tmp_thumbnails

then run the install program again to see if that helps. I do not want to delete the templates and some of the PHP files because I have spent some time to modify them.

Yes, you can delete the folders. But you have to create it again by hand. They will be not created by the install script.

The install script will only setup a new clean database.
