How to upload multiple files?

Is there a way to upload multiple images at once? Or can I use an already uploaded image directory?

upload files with ftp

you have to upload one file into the specific area.
then move with the cursor to the name of these categorie . the brwoser will show you the cat-id of this folder on your harddisk. then you can upload all the other files into this dirctore (via ftp or other ...)

for example:
-create a categorie named "HardStuff"
-your browser shows you the "cat-id" 55
-copy all the other files via ftp into the folder media/55
