The key to using GDLib with 4Images is set the path to the PHP extensions folder where the php_gd.dll file is located in the php.ini file. Once your ISP does this, GDLib works perfectly with 4Images. The Windows installer binary for 4.3.x automatically creates a folder in C;\WINNT\. Consequently, it does no good to copy the php_gd.dll file to C:\PHP\Extensions in this platform first without setting the "extension_dir" directive in php.ini.

With respect to "auto-thumbs", I recommend that images be loaded in batches. In this way, the thumbs are created with just the click of a button. I can't think of anything more automatic than that.

Happy new year to all and to all a good night!

:D

The error message I get is:

GD library error.
Check module settings

How to I check these or any suggestions?

I have the same errors. This is my 2nd 4images gallery, and GD has worked fine for me on the first one but I get the same error above on the 2nd one. How do I fix this?

The modules for image converting must be installed on the server. Ask your host which module is installed (GD, ImageMagick or NetPBM).

Ok, so you told me that, but how do I find this in my files? I'm still kind of new to this. :( Help!

u can check by creating a .php file with this code:
Code: [Select]
<?php
phpinfo
();
?>
upload it to your server and start it.
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
Please do not PM me asking for help unless you've been specifically asked to do so. Such PMs will be deleted without answer. (forum rule #6)
Extension for Firefox/Thunderbird: Master Password+ Back/Forward History Tweaks (restartless) Cookies Manager+ Fit Images (restartless for Thunderbird)

Thank you. Here's the info that I came up with: http://www.mabuhaypcusa.org/gallery/info.php. So what should I look for, and what do I need to do?

Leiza,

The question is how new are you at this? Directions were: GD Library, NetPBM, and ImageMagick are the three image conversion tools that you use with 4Images. A simple search and find in your browser would tell you that neither of these tools are listed in your environment. So, the question is what are you going to do in communicating this to your ISP? If they are not available and you want to use 4Images, it seems to me that your choices are: 1: relocate your Web, or 2: select another image management application.

Thanks for the info. Ok, I'm very new to this, first time user. The reason I was able to use the auto-thumbnail feature on my first gallery: http://jadenash.isla-band.com was that my webhost has a CPanel that enabled me to auto-install 4images onto my website. I didn't have to configure anything. And going to the admin settings and clicking on the GD Bibliothek let me use the auto-thumbnail feature. I also did the info on it: http://www.isla-band.com/gallery/info.php, and noticed it had the GD section in there.

On the 2nd gallery, however, I wasn't able to use the GD option. I did the same thing as the 1st one because I also had a CPanel on that one and could auto-install 4images. This second gallery is running on another DNS server.

Comparing the two galleries, I agree with you that there is no GD at all on my 2nd gallery. So, to clarify, do I tell this to my webhost and correct the problem? I don't think it's the ISP I am having problems with.

Thank you for the quick responses.

well, yes, just ask your HOST about that. (SwingDancer probably ment HOST, not ISP ;) )

Good session, folks. Well, the PC answer, Leiza, is whoever can click the switch to turn your tools on for you is who you should turn to. Makes life a whole lot easier.

All the best.

Hi! Do you meant only my host can install the mention module?
Is it possible for me to upload via FTP and install the program to create auto thumbnail?

Is so, how do I start?
I have been to ImageMagick site to get the program and it seems complicated.

Thanks.

Hello.. I get this error too. Thing is... it worked before but now it doesnt. You say that my host should have it installed? I dont quite understand how this program works. I doubt they have uninstalled this if it was before. My husband has the same 4image gallery on the same server and his works.

Any help would be great appreciated :)

Pamela
