Nice hack!  I have more than the english and deutch languages installed at my gallery, therefore am looking for translations to the code below in spanish, italian, french, portuguese, chinese, japanese, and swedish, if available.  Thanks!

I'm sure there will be some Spanish people who will say that there are better translations but Spanish is a very "complicated" language were there are several words for the same meaning.

For example in Top Votes you can say: Mas votado OR Mas calificado OR Mas puntuado.
Really just depends on what you like best and the rest of the translations of your website. If you already have Rating translated then use the same word.

Yep, V@no has understood what i'm trying to do.

The object of all this thread is to have 2 different "registered" user groups with different access levels. Until now both groups have the same access to Private Categories although only one of them should.

I have both groups already created in the Admin Panel.
I have set to "Private" all the options of the selected Category.
I have set for each group the correct Permissions.

Please see attached image for visual explanation.



Although the "normal" registered users have the permissions set to "NO" they do have access.

Any other ideas or help?

Hello all,

First of all YES i have searched the forum with Keyword: "group" and i got 2 pages of results with no clear solution to what i'm looking for.

I need some help for accomplishing the following:

GroupA: Non registered can only see public images.
GroupB: Registered members can see all images except 1 category.
GroupC: Special members can see absolutely all images.

What i'm trying to do is that Group B members can promote to Group C if they are active and collaborating. Then as a sort of reward thay can see all pictures.

If i set a category to private and then "open" for that Group both groups have access and not only Group C as i intend.
I've already created a "special" group and given 1 test category private access. Then i set Group B permission to NO and Group C to YES but both can see the images. Why?

I can only think of 2 problems: First it could have something to do with the data in constants.php file. Mine has the following (as per IBForum integration).

User Levels:
define('GUEST', 0);
define('USER_AWAITING', 1);
define('USER', 3);
define('ADMIN', 4);

Permission levels:
define('AUTH_ALL', 0);
define('AUTH_USER', 3);
define('AUTH_ACL', 3); (Not sure what this is)
define('AUTH_ADMIN', 4);

The other possibility i think of is wrong settings in Group Permissions although i have checked this several times before posting.


Please any help is very much appreciated.
Maybe the 4images Guru (V@no) can help me here?

Hello!
I'm thinking about alternative ways of rating pictures to make it more entertaining and also get visitors to make a few more pageviews

The probably easiest one and i think maybe even best approach for most of 4images webmasters is a Hot or Not type rating. The picture is displayed and only 2 choices HOT or NOT, GOOD or BAD, LIKE or DONT LIKE. This way images would have an easy and accurate percentage over total votes. The icons representing this could be hands up or hands down.

The other solution i'm very interested in myself is a sort of picture shootout. 2 pictures are shown at the same time. User decides which one wins. The winner gets a WIN point and the looser a LOSS point. Then a winning percentage could be calculated to display the most popular pictures.

Does anybody want to take the challenge and do something like this? I want to try the 2nd option myself but with my coding experience it wont be finished before Xmas

thx V@no for your reply but it's a bit more complicated.

I've edited the constants.php file to suit invisionboard forum (v1.1.1.) and it works fine. The only problem is the 4images script displaying the wrong number for each group.

In other words:
When a guest visits my website it shows him as a registered user (although he'sand the number of guests is always 0 (Zero).

Did i explain myself correctly
What i'm looking for is the script itself that manages which user types are displayed in each group when showing the stats.

Hope you can point me in the right direction. Maybe sessions.php? or one of the templates?
It's only a cosmetic issue cause the authentification works fine.

I'll try to explain myself the best i can.  

I've messed up something in the group id's or member id's and now in my "whos_online" stats at the bottom of the index page shows this:

There are currently 2 registered user(s) (0 among them invisible) and 0 guest(s) online.

> USER, Guest

Why are both guest and USER in the same group? The guest is not recognised as guest anymore so i always have 0 guests.
Can somebody shed some light on this and maybe tell me where to look for fixing this. I would also like to remove the invisible stuff.

Hello all,

After successfull integration of 4images 1.7 with phpBB 2.0.2 i have decided to use a different forum software.
I have been using the phpBB forum for some weeks but the skinning and modifications i needed just made me go mad.
Now i PLEASE need some help for making the 4images work as before without clean install. I already have modifications in the code and over 500 pictures in it.
Which parts are referring to phpBB so that i can change back?

Ich habe nach einiger Zeit mit 4images 1.7 und phpBB 2.0.2 die Entscheidung getroffen an anderes Forum Software zu benutzen.
Ich hatte einfach genug mit die ganzen Mods und Skins für phpBB damit es so funkioniert wie ich will.
Also BITTE, jetzt brauche ich ein bisschen Hilfe um die Integration ruckgängig zu machen ohne einen neuen Install zu machen. Ich habe einige änderungen am 4images selbst vorgenommen und über 500 Bilder.
Welche Dateien oder SQL Befehle haben mit phpBB zu tun?

Bin sehr Dankbar für jegliche Hilfe.

I plan to use the 4images gallery for different types of media like small video clips, executables and zip files apart from the images.

I don't want the "other" media to be added to the image count that the script shows on the index (home) page.

Even better would be something like:

640 images in 15 categories
26 videos in 3 categories
50 files in 2 categories

Any ideas?

Very good.

It's a good solution although I usually just put the mouse pointer over the category (in admin or when browsing) and see the cat ID number in the URL.

Media is too much for the case and Album is not enough.
I didn't want to have the discussion between photos and fotos so i take gallery.

I agree totally with you. Some people don't care if their site looks the same as the rest. I have no problem with it. It's OK, but in my case i need my own design which shows my visitors how much i care in giving them that something extra or different from other websites.

I'm also trying to stand out from the rest with my design which i will show when the time arrives.

For the moment i've done already my own buttons (easy), headers, footers and changed a bit the category and details template.
I'm still fine tuning details template and checking all the other templates.
It takes a bit longer because of the php calls and all the {blah blah...} which i'm trying to learn and the fact that i NEED multilanguage presentation and content.
This means not only translating all the links, buttons and menus but also as much content related stuff as possible and displaying it depending on the language selected by the user.

btw. widget1981: I like your site a lot. I might have some questions which i'm gonna PM you in the next days.

So JUST DO IT :p or NO RISK NO FUN and experiment with your templates. If you feel unsure work always with backups of your original templates.

Chit Chat / Which word is best?

I'm finishing some buttons to navigate through my website and i would appreciate your opinions on the right word for the 4images script.

I'm really confused because i need buttons in spanish and english (some day in german) and i don't know which is better for each language.

btw. what do you think about adding the word "gallery" or "album" after foto/photo/media.

Please post your opinions.

Hello everybody,

I've been trying to get phpAdsNew to work with 4images and i need some help.

After searching this forum i've found following posts:

In these posts it talks about inserting the code in the php files (using Local Mode) and although Remote Invocation is recommended no clear explanation is given.
I've tried using the Remote Invocation and had lot's of problems to get it working. Without being very sure what i did it worked once and after changing some names (Advertiser & Campaign) it stopped working. Now i can't get it to display any banner. The only thing that displays is a broken image link that links to an empty page.

Any ideas? I'm a bit tired of this error and trial method. What am i missing or doing wrong?

Just for reference i click on the option "Watch this topic" but after a couple of days i can't remember the thread.

Where can i see what threads (posts) i am watching? I can't see it in the profile and unless somebody is active in that thread i get no message.
