ImageMagick installed, yet not working
« on: March 31, 2003, 06:40:23 PM »
Hello,

I had my host install ImageMagick just recently and I've been trying to use it with 4images but cannot get it to work. I know the path is correct for when I open up the Auto-Thumbnailer everything comes up fine. However, when I actually try to create the thumbnails I get this..

Quote
Create thumbnail for: g01 (P1010005.JPG) ....
   Error creating thumbnail!

As far as I know everything is installed correctly, what could be the problem?

I am running 4images 1.7.

the image magic path should end up with binary name, i.e. /usr/bin/convert (convert.exe for win systems)... if this is not the case, check faq and other forums - this question was answered many times already

Even that path doesn't work for me. I've tried everything but to no avail. :(

My server is a Unix box so I know that won't work. I've pretty much given up trying to get it to work now..

someone posted sometime ago, that after they asked host about that, host said it was their problem, and they reinstall IM, that fixed the problem.

Well I spoke to my ISP and they  investigated this issue and found their servers were to fault!

My ImagMagik path is.....
Quote
/usr/bin/convert

I can now thumbnail all images no problem

hey "JimBobUK",

what did the ISP do? I installed ImageMagick with the YAST Tool of SUSE Linux and it works fine in shell. In the 4images control panel only the path /usr/bin/convert is accepted, but I still get the above error.

Any ideas? I read through all ImageMagick related topics, but found no solution.

I have been on this forum all morning searching everywhere for an answer till I found this thread.

My Host installed IM for me and gave me this path:  /usr/X11R6/bin

Then I kept getting the Error creating thumbnail!

thanks to JimBobUK I put the "convert" at the end and all is perfect now

/usr/X11R6/bin/convert
