Date format shows incorrect

I have changed the date format to m.d.Y however the date still shows d.m.Y under random images. How can I fix this?

This is only an example how to use php code in the templates. You can remove this from the templates.

I also have this problem . . . I would like the day and time to match my control panel settings for day and time.  

Which templates would I edit, and how would I fix the code.  I don't want to remove date from front page . . . just want it to match how my control panel is set up.

My date shows up correctly in all of my admin sections, but on my details page my IPTC date transposes month and day. displays d.m.Y should be m.d.Y (as set in admin>settings.
