Problems after installing 1.7.4

I updated my 1.7 version to 1.7.4 but after that I cannot do any changes in "settings" When I do I get Internal sevrer error. When I look in the error log file it says: "cannot find file: ...500.shtml"

Also cannot change my template. When I click "Update" after I do a change, the window with the code turns blank and nothing is changed.

I have CHMOD all files and folders. I followed the instructions for updating.

Also, in Control panel it still reads: "Version 1.7, please update to 1.7.4" I didn't run any installation script, but I shouldn't have to, right?

What could be wrong?

sorry.. 500.shtml is not a part of 4images

REPLACE ALL PHP files with new 1.7.4

hope for you, you did BACKUP before you started with update.

I already replaced all PHP files, but it didn't help. 

I also wonder about the admin/about.php that I see in 1.7 but not in 1.7.4. Should it still be there in the admin folder? Or could it be causing problems?

And yes, I did a backup, but I really would like to get my gallery updated to 1.7.4!

about.php was not a part of 1.7

Got the parse error fixed - it was an "if" missing.
