Version 2.0 status????

Does anyone have information on the status of a new version of 4images?  In a couple months it will be a year since the last update.  I would like to start a new gallery but do not want to have to sit here and hack the 4images code to implement all the useful mods listed in the forums when they could be implemented in a new version saving everyone the time and frustration of doing it themselves..  

If 4images is undergoing a complete rewrite then it would be usefull to at least know at what stage it is at..  If it isn't going to be for another 6 months or so for a new version then it would be nice if someone could implement many of the mods listed here into a new distribution.. such as 1.8...

I like this idea... This way we can save a lot of time and efforts for most of new 4images users. Just get clean v.1.7, apply all most popular and usefull MOD's and distribute it as v.1.7m from 4images site.  We could run a poll here to find out which MOD's have to be installed...

I would think a lot of them could be turned on or off in the admin/preferences set-up.   I am sure most of them can be done this way with little or no performance hit.  If nothing else some scripts could be written to do a lot of the work for you instead of the hand editing in multiple files.   You look at the mods forum and the whole first screen contains nothing but how to add different features.

für mich 4images 1.7.1 wie jetzt ist schon perfekt,
noch mehr update brauche ich nicht.

Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, dass zufriedene 4images User Kritik an der Gallery oder den Updatezyklen als persönliche Kritik auffassen. Natürlich ist 4images in der Grundversion für Privatanwender kostenlos, aber darf man deswegen nicht weitergehende Wünsche äussern? Es gibt andere Open Source Gallerien, die häufiger aktualisiert werden als 4images. Natürlich könnte man dann wechseln, nur ist das bei einer bestehenden Installation mit einem ziemlichen Aufwand verbunden. Da hofft man natürlich, dass das verwendete Produkt weiterentwickelt wird. Es geht auch nicht darum ein fixes Datum zu nennen, sondern darum, dass man Informationen erhält, ob überhaupt weiterentwickelt wird und welchem ungefähren Zeitrahmen. Und das Produkt, das keine Verbesserungen nötig hat, muss erst noch erfunden werden.

@IWS_Steffen Danke für den Link. Da ich am evaluieren einer neuen Gallerie bin kommt mir der Link sehr gelegen.

Mit 4Images bin ich eigentlich ganz zufrieden. Es fehlen mir eigentlich nur wenige Funktionen um aus 4Images "die Gallerie" zu werden.
Was mir haupsächlich fehlt:
- Bilder in verschiedenen Grössen anzeigen
- Rechte auf Bildebene vergeben zu können
- detailierte Rechte für Benutzer
- Bilder können auch auf anderen Servern abgelegt sein

Ev. werden meine gesuchten Funktionen durch die 2er Version abgedeckt...

Auch falls ich mich für ein anderes Gallerie entscheiden werde, werde ich ab und zu hier vorbei schauen...

You know, Mods could be set up in a rewrite like they are in most CMS's where there are the core ones to run the script and then all the addons. thewn you just have to edit templates and what not.

Ich bin auf der Suche nach einer kleinen Galerie, in welcher unsere Gilde ihre Screenshots hochladen kann, auch schließlich auf 4images gestoßen.
Leider fehlt mir genau das oben genannte, was ich bei privat programmierten Galerien schon gesehen habe:
Man sieht zuerst ein Thumbnail, klickt einmal drauf und sieht eine an die Auflösung des Screens angepasste Version des Bildes (oder auch 800*600 fest) mit allen Detailangaben und bei einem nochmaligen Klick sieht man dann die Originalgröße des Bildes.
Dies anzupassen, dürfte nicht länger als eine Stunde dauern und vielleicht mache ich mir auch mal die Mühe.

Oder gibt es so etwas schon?

Kann mal bitte jemand von offizieller Seite sagen wie es mit dem Projekt 4images weitergeht?

Ist überhaupt eine neue Version geplant? Wenn JA wie sind die Releaseplanungen?

Ich verwende das Programm jetzt schon einige Zeit, jedoch gehen mir irgendwie die NEWS-Meldungen ab...
Aktueller Status, Geplante Versionen, etc...


Bitte schreibt doch mal OFFIZIELL einen Eintrag wie jetzt wirklich die Planung ist...

Denn auch die beste Software muss STÄNDIG erweitert werden um auf dem Markt die beste zu bleiben :-)
