Next version of 4images
« on: May 21, 2003, 06:23:00 AM »
4images is a very powerful photo album package which offers many user friendly functions to manage photo album.  I would like to know is there any development plan of the next version of 4images?  Current version is 1.7 and I guess there will be version 2.0 in future?

I hope that this useful package can be further improved to help more users.  Here is my wish list on features of new version:

1. better internationalization

2. template change on the fly (similar feature can be done in another gallery package Coppermine)

3. integration with phpbb discussion forum and use single common user database

4. more flexible admin functions e.g. allow admin to resize photos within a specific category, more flexible photo relocation between categories, etc

5. more user friendly links for photo attachment i.e. now it is difficult to obtain the URl so to post the photo inside 4images to other web pages or forum

6. more flexible ways to edit photos, e.g. allow option to edit captions of multiple photos, etc

The 4images authors may not always reply but they do read the posts in these forums.  Most of your requests have been made before by other users so I'm sure they're already aware of them.  I can't speak to the development schedule or version, but in my 18 months as a 4images user it has been my impression that development is always ongoing.

Nice feedback.

@crazy:

Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
1. Forum rules
2. FAQ
3. Search
