Feedback & Suggestions / Additional Features for 4images
« on: November 10, 2002, 02:50:13 AM »
I would like to request the following additional features to be incorporated into 4images:

1. Category page spanning.  If we have dozens, or even hundreds, of subcategories, it doesn't make sense to list them all on one page.  We can span the pages and list 'x 'amount per page.  we decide what 'x' is.

2. Thumbnail Representation of Each Category/Subcategory. A new administrative function that supports the uploading of a category thumbnail image through our browser, to be displayed next to a category name.

3. Manual or Automated slideshows that give visitors control over the viewing experience.  Visitors will be able to control the delay between images.

4. Alphabetical linking in the form of pull-down menu i.e. if people choose to see the categories starting with "A", they will be taken to a listing page that only lists categores starting with "A"

Thanks and I hope that this feed back will improve 4images so that it can become the best gallery script on the internet.

At the moment, all sub categories are using a folder icon as the thumbnail representations.

Is it possible to incorporate *different* thumbnail representation for each of the sub category?

For example:

Category: Artist
Sub Category: Monet, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso etc

When people click on the category Artist, they will be taken to the list of the sub category, and  at this page, I would like them to see a different thumbnail representation for each of the sub category (such as a picture of Monet's face for sub category Monet, a picture of Salvador Dali's face for sub category Salvador Dali etc).

Thanks.

How do I create multiple pages for sub categories? For example:

Category: Artist
Sub categories: Monet, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso etc

There will be hundreds of sub categories under that category and in order to shorten the page load waiting time, I would like to split the sub categories in different pages (just like the images where we can choose whether we would like to view 5 or 10 or 20 etc images per page).

At the moment, the new ImageFolio 3 supports category page spanning and list 'x' amount of subcategories per page and we can decide what 'x' is. I am hoping that this feature will be supported by 4images as well.

Thanks.
