Updating 4images
« on: July 18, 2006, 07:58:38 PM »

I have used many mods and my site works great, at least as I like it.

My problem is that I can't update my 1.7.1 version because if I do so, I will loose all my personalization’s, mods and in general all I have done for my site... and I must say it was a lot of work.
Is there any way to update 4images without loosing the previous personalization???

Any idea please?

I love 4images, it is really great work!

 what a pitty!

A good solution could be a 4images PATCH, like AutoPatcher who updates WindowsXP.
Have you ever thought about it?

By the way, how you update your personal gallery V@no with the too many additions you have there???
You add them all from the beggining every time a new version of 4images comes out???

Thanks for your answer any way  :)

Do you do lots of modifications to windows' files? - NO so how do you think its getting updated? - it overwrite the files with the patched ones...See the difference between programs and scripts?
There is no way you can make a "patch" that would do the job on modifyed files.

You are right V@no, thanks for your answer.

I am wondering if it is only me who has this problem...

Though, I still believe that any problem has a solution, I wish I could help...  :)

Me too, naid.
I tryied to update my 1.7.1 to 1.7.2 with more then 15 addons and my own modifications. I tryied to merge changes from 1.7.2 with my current version, but I have failed. You can try this way - the Araxis Merge is a good tool for it.

Now, I see only one way - install the new version on local server like Dever and add to it all old mods and check, check and check once again that it's working with my database. Also, small hint - write down all modifications which you do. That can help you in the future.

Yes this way this program not so easy to have good feature Everytime they update , you have to start from the begining it's  BORRING !!!!!  [ in this millenium century ]

it will nice if the  main CORE only update and  ALL THE MOOD  can be like plug in.
