Hello,
so i thought about the dreamboard forum, there are just to many bugs, beside of that, there have to be more regular forum options, so i decided to ask a php coder to completely rewrite that forum, to an completely new and working addon. Of course i have to pay him, but i don't want that to be a payed MOD for you - but you can donate :D
When its done, i will post it of course on the 4images forum, as a little contribute for all the help i recieved since i'am using 4images.
The forum will not longer be called "Dreamboard" because of the whole new structure and new options. Even if i'll pay for it, it will be remain an open source project.
Features of the new board:
- Avatar support
- Image support iin topics
- ALL bbcode/2 support, smileys etc.
- Recent posts on main-page (not only the past 5, more options to show)
- User post-rankings
- Write PM from topic
- Completely new ACP configuration for the board
- Better integration of user-bord statistics in member-profile.
- Regular board options who where missing in dreamboard
- e.t.c.
Of course, some functions can only be udes if you install the required MODs. But we will try to make the installation simple.
If you have any ideas, what the board must have, now its the time to say it. The writing of that addon begins next week, estimate BETA version avalible end of this month.
Also i need BETA-testers, everyone who will participate in this should write here in this topic.

PS: As an idea :arrow: it would be grate, if the board has not a new stylesheet, so that different templates can be used and the integration is more easy.

Yes the stylesheet will be the one you use for your template, good idea.
PS: I have progress, found 2 coders, i have to check them tomorrow, if everything is fine we start in two days :)

here 6 ideas wich would be nice to se in the forum .
1. moving threads from one topic to a other ( needen for those who post stuff in topic 1 that is should be in topic 2)
2. new threads sence last visit (needed to keep track of ancers on your posts)
3. mark everything as readed for logged in user (needed to say i readed everything i needed to)
4. mail to mod of topic when user add thread or ancer to thread
5. mod button to send admin a pm to report a user or thread so admin can check if a bann of user is nesesary
6. Time banning for users. (admin can bann a user for x days so he can think about behaving)
more ideas coming LOL .

you want to write a completly new code for a board?
sounds interesting, but unfortunatly its not done in just a few days.
Maybe i can help you as a beta tester, checking also for errors in code.

If the new board is ready,
you can simply write a small update script which can use old entries for the new board,
depending on the db structure of the new board.

No good news, still not found a GOOD php-coder who can write it. I've met allready 5 guys, but noone thinks he can do it. I keep you posted on this.

This sounds like a great idea. But as IcEcReaM said. It's coing to take time.

No, hotscripts or any other us-site is not a good alternative, because it will costing to much money. But i have news, i finally find a coder who thinks he can modify the board, hes now analyzing the whole 4images structure, it will take some time, but at least thats a start ;) I keep you posted on this.

i dont think so, because "re-coding" includes new structure, new functions, new fields etc...

If I were you, I would ask a coder to create a mod to integrate an existing board like smf or phpBB or something like that! And with integrate I mean: same user management, full inegration of the board controllpanel into the acp of 4images, etc...
I think, this way is better than others...

Under re-coding i understand a whole new code, new files and templates, new layout, new tablestructure, better security etc etc etc. We dont paint a car here, we build a whole new one based on official php functions. Of course, if some of mantras code is being used (what my coder is deciding) he will be includet in the credits as well. But when we include just some lines, witch are used not only by mantras board - about what have i to ask him for ? And again, its not my decision what lines are used, btw, a forum needs GOOD support - ever visiting mantras site? About 40 questions "pending" since the release. So? I dont understand the problem, i just want to have a good board, i dont give a ** what the name of the board is or who gets the credits. I thought PHP programmers help each other, or work in a team, but i see many offtopics in this forum because someone thinks hes better than the other and tries to find fictios errors and so on .. :roll: whatever/
@Mantra: Dont take it wrong, this is not about "stealing" your code, of course i can post you the code before it goes official, and you can check it for copyright problems. We can name it Dreamboard v2.5 or whatever

I´m not a Coder but i´m very interesting in a new board and i think this is the best way. an existent board that use the 4images database ans structure...

Langsam kapier ich es nun nichts mehr vor lauter Dreamboard-Einträgen hier...
Also einerseits ist das von Mantra eingestellt worden, gelle? :roll:
Dann gibt es nun hier diesen Thread, bei dem ein neues Dreambord bzw. eben ein Forum entstehen soll..
Was muss ich bzw. welches kann ich nun verwenden, wenn ich JETZT ein forum einbauen möchte?
die Dreamboard Vers. 2.1 (inkl. bereist diesem Security Fix) oder ehe die 2.0+ Serucity Fix von Mantra?
Oder gibt es da ein anderes, was man mir eher empfiehlt?

Dieser Thread ging mal darum,
eben ein neues Board zu bauen,
entweder komplett neu, oder aufbauend auf das Dreamboard.
bisher hat sicher allerdings nichts getan.
Also wirklich viel hat der Thread mit dem Dreamboard selbst nicht zu tun.
Die Posts von mantra & vano bezogen sich nur darauf,
dass in den bisherigen Dreamboardversionen einige Sicherheitslücken sind,
die evtl. gefixed werden müssten.

Okay..Das heisst also, ich kann und sollte die Dreamboard Version 2.1 benutzen bzw. verwenden, oder? Wenn ich jetzt ein Forum einbauen möche.....

ich bin mir nicht sicher,
ob die aktuellen downloadversionen diesen Fix schon drinne haben.
Auf jeden Fall sollte man, wenn man das Dreamboard installiert hat,
entsprechende Sicherheitslücke flicken.

Would there not be a fairly simple way of adapting the present Comments system to be used as a forum? I reckon the hardest bit would be creating a thread system. Any comments?

no, it's more then that.
you also need some more modifications,
which users normally expect from a forum,
for example: serach function, thread moderation options, and some other useful things.
