Google page translation doesn't work anymore?
« on: July 24, 2009, 05:57:08 PM »
I just noticed when a topic has two different languages, google page translation doesn't translate the second language...
example:
http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=25386.0
and translation:
http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.4homepages.de%2Fforum%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D25386.0&sl=es&tl=en&history_state0=&num=50

is it just me, or google screwed something up?

Yes, for me the same  8O

If you choose "detect language" in the first dropdown, it says
"Translation from English into English is not supported."

So maybe it will analyze the page and thinks:
more than 50%?, then everything is english.

Strange, or?

The auto detect language is pretty much explainable, due to english is default language on the forum, and it's specified in HTML header...but still, before they added language selection on top frame everything worked fine...it's a shame, used to be a great tool :(

This is strange. at google's help page says that we can use class="notranslate" to mark a block of text that we don't want be translated. In my tests it worked great, but once I've added it to this forum, google would quit translating once found that class. For now I've removed that class and added some javascript that should display untranslated text for code blocks.

Let me know if you have problem with it and with performance.

Russian:
Текст кода должен остаться не затронутым переводчиком. В данным момент только Google переводчик автоматически распознаётся, для всех остальных переводчиков надо добавлять &transl в конце адреса страницы. (Bing)
Также надо заметить, что для правильного отображения текста кода, нужен JavaScript.
Code: [Select]
Этот текст должен остаться не изменённым (This text should remain unchanged)
