mmm...yes, I belive it uses max WIDTH as figuring proportions.
(in my oppinium it doesnt make sence do max width/height different sizes like 1024x800, with most image editing programs u'll get same effect, it's better restrict it to the same size 1024x1024)

The pixel restriction works only for the upload, not for the resizing.
In this case you have to use 768 pixel and fixed width.

ah, this was about my auto image resize mod?  :?
then its exactly what I said - max width value used as propotion figures.
if u think it should uses the smaller value of width/height, then, it's easy to change.
